Children born to illegals in the U.S. automatically become U.S. citizens and are used as a means to get their parents and rest of the family to stay here legally. Nothing in the pending legislation to outlaw this travesty.

"Anchor babies" is the extremely common practice of Mexican women getting across the border, even within minutes of giving birth, in order that their baby will be a U.S. citizen and will be supported by American tax payer money for the rest of his or her life. The 14th Amendment was originally intended to designate citizenship to freed slaves. It has been interpretted, probably erroneously, to mean that anyone born on U.S. soil is automatically a citizen.
