Bush set for immigration speech

BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on
immigration tomorrow night.

Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's
"passion" on immigration.

He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

The Senate's immigration witch's brew

The witch's brew otherwise known as the Senate's comprehensive immigration reform bill is now out in the open for all to see. What started out as a desperate attempt to disguise the biggest amnesty of illegal aliens in world history has morphed into the biggest social engineering experiment in world history – a bill that will legalize the importation of 66 to 100 million foreign nationals into the United States of America within the next 20 years. No despot in history ever proposed such a scheme, let alone attempted to carry it out – not the shah of Iran, not Stalin, not Mao – no one.

You're welcome JP! I'm in this 100% - and angry as hell. My brother, sisters, brother's fiance, sons, their wives and families, neighbors, friends, and acquaintances (cashiers, waitresses, etc.), all beyond upset with our politicians and the very thought of any type of "amnesty."

Everyone is listening to conservative talk radio, watching Lou Dobbs, O'Reilly and Sean Hannity on TV to keep our antennas up concerning how our government is selling our country and us down the river....you know, the one that goes to Mexico! I am over 60 years of age and in my lifetime have NEVER seen so many ticked off citizens of this country. Each day that goes by with more ""antics" from our politicians only serves to enrage more people. You can't tell me those pro-illegal politicians aren't getting the message. They're trying to pull a fast one - and get away with it DESPITE what their constituents want.

Anyone with half a brain would reason that if Ted Kennedy is endorsing it, it's seriously defective.

Immigration Reform Speech at Heritage.
Pence's Immigration Plan "Border Integrity and Immigration Reform Act" Speech at Heritage Foundation

I come before you today in the midst of a national debate over immigration reform. While I acknowledge that, as the New York Times stated Sunday, we are near the “end game” on immigration reform in the United States Senate, we are far from reaching the kind of compromise that would make a legislative outcome possible in this session of Congress. I bring these remarks in the hopes of offering a new approach and a real middle ground on immigration reform.

http://pence08.com/Issues/IllegalImmigration/ImmigrationSpeech/tabid/191/Default.aspx

~Snip
We can control our borders. At the same time, we can find a real rational middle ground for dealing with the illegal immigrants currently in America. A lot of people in Washington are talking about what we can do, but the solutions they are offering, up to this point, are not workable and they are not acceptable to millions of hard-working Americans who believe in law and order and the American Dream.

The Senate is debating a bill that will provide amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Amnesty is no solution. It only will worsen the problem because it will cause more people to come here illegally with the hope of someday having their status adjusted.

I have said it once today and will say it again, “A nation without borders is not a nation.”

Thanks hon. I read through some of his other material and it appeared 50/50, some satire, some not. He had that piece on Harry Reid wanting to make 'grunts and groans' the official language, but then other pieces read as more legit.

Bottom line though, we ALL questioned it because as far fetched as it seemed, when it comes to Ted Kennedy, ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE!

This is the new world order that Bush and his father have kept mentioning in numerous speeches.

I just reran it and it worked fine for me.
When the open / save box came up, I clicked open and it was saved to a temp folder. With DSL it took about 4 minutes to download and it then opened a video screen and played automatically.

I'm still having problems, but working on it.

Here's an interesting follow up on the background of that tape (Bush waving Mexican Flag).

If true, I wonder where all of this is going?

Gonzales Said He Would Quit in Raid Dispute

By DAVID JOHNSTON and CARL HULSE

WASHINGTON, May 26 — Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales, the F.B.I. director, Robert S. Mueller III, and senior officials and career prosecutors at the Justice Department told associates this week that they were prepared to quit if the White House directed them to relinquish evidence seized in a bitterly disputed search of a House member's office, government officials said Friday.

Mr. Gonzales was joined in raising the possibility of resignation by the deputy attorney general, Paul J. McNulty, the officials said. Mr. Gonzales and Mr. McNulty told associates that they had an obligation to protect evidence in a criminal case and would be unwilling to carry out any White House order to return the material to Congress.

The potential showdown was averted Thursday when President Bush ordered the evidence to be sealed for 45 days to give Congress and the Justice Department a chance to work out a deal.
