Bush set for immigration speech

BUSH SET FOR IMMIGRATION SPEECH

WHITE HOUSE President Bush is getting set for a prime-time speech on
immigration tomorrow night.

Aides note the 8 p-m, Eastern Time, speech will be the president's first from the Oval Office that does not involve Iraq and the war on terrorism. And they say that reflects Bush's
"passion" on immigration.

He's speaking as the Senate is poised to clear a compromise measure including his idea for a guest worker program. However, a rival House bill is limited to a border crackdown, and meshing the two won't be easy.

Stand Up For America !

"We have room for but one flag, the American flag...
We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...
And we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

I hope so. That is what we really need. Large numbers out on the streets.

see JustPiper's post #2379, excerpted below:

An aide in Congressman Norwood's (GA) office shared the basic details of the GWB plan for deploying NG troops on the border. As we would expect, the plan maximizes cost, minimizes benefit, shuffles lots of people in and out to give the image of mass mobiliation while achieving absolutely nothing. And best of all for GWB and the "open borders" members of Congress it's designed to fail, allowing them to claim, "See we told you that putting troops on the border would cost too much and wouldn't work."

Here it is: 6,000 troops will be deployed for 5 weeks at a time--the first 2 weeks for training and transportation, the following 3 weeks in actual duty, but in "support" roles so as not to offend the Mexican government with US military uniforms on the border. Then at the end of the 5 weeks, the original 6,000 will be deactivated and another 6,000 will be brought in. So the 6,000 will be replaced every 3 weeks! That way, no one becomes very proficient at the job, reducing the possibility that "troops on the border" might actually be effective.

Absolutely. Who was it that had the extensive information on the new port in Mexico about 100 miles south of Tijuana?
Anybody else see that. I believe it was here on freepers somewhere.

Fridge fills up in Arizona desert season of death

By Frank Jack Daniel

TUCSON, Arizona (Reuters) - So many illegal immigrants die of desert heat on the U.S.-Mexico border that an Arizona morgue has had to buy a refrigerated trailer to store its bodies, and it is building room for more.

As temperatures begin to soar toward 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38 Celsius), Bruce Parks, the head of the medical examiner's office in Tucson, worries that tighter security on the border may mean a gruesome toll this summer.

With that said, one has to wonder for what purpose, and why, El Presidente Vincente Fox is touring Utah, and West Coast cities, in a heavily armoured air conditioned limo, when Hispanics/Mexicans  are dying in the Arizona desert.  Moreover, what kind of man would knowingly do that to HIS, so called own people?

I know this is MA but does something like this not just boggle the mind?

MA Legislature to vote on "illegals first" amendment

1. Under exsiting law, illegal immigrants in Massachusetts are given priority to "public assistance" over all others. Under existing law, illegal immigrants are given phoney social security numbers (started by former Gov. and presidential candidate Mike Dukakis) and get preference in getting free housing over citizens, including veterans. That's right. The Marxists running the State House have created laws that make Homeless vets in Massachusetts wait behind illegals in getting public housing and housing assistance.

2. Under existing law, no court in Massachusetts can ask a defendant their citizenship or status. So, illegals in the state, having committed a violent crime, cannot be identified as being here illegally. Same Marxists behind this one.

Excellent question, and one that the media most likely will never ask. Hope I am dead wrong.

This can't be overstated or reiterated enough.

Failed Amnesty Legislation of 1986 Haunts the Current Immigration Bills in Congress

WASHINGTON, May 22 — Day in and day out, as the immigration debate boils, the halls of Congress are haunted by the specter of Senate Bill 1200, the failed amnesty legislation of 1986.

President Ronald Reagan signed that bill into law with great fanfare amid promises that it would grant legal status to illegal immigrants, crack down on employers who hired illegal workers and secure the border once and for all. Instead, fraudulent applications tainted the process, many employers continued their illicit hiring practices, and illegal immigration surged.

The galling thing, you guys, is that the proposed amnesty will not extend to ALL illegals who are here, but only to the ones who have sneaked across the border from Mexico.

Am I wrong?

To add insult to injury, our government is showing favoritism to, and showering favors upon, only one nationality in this debacle.

Am I wrong?

NO Irish, Vietnamese, Korean, Romanian, British, Swedish, Nigerian, Sri Lankan.... etcetera, will be part of this. So what part of "comprehensive" do the president and senate not understand?

Am I wrong?

Your right 3 times over..

Trashing those respectful of American laws and aiding those who are not.. ..good is bad and bad is good.. it seems to be the message of our times.
