Clinton's First Act in Office Was to Push Abortion Pill into U.S. Market New Documents Reveal

WASHINGTON, May 9, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) - As the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) prepares for a May 11 meeting in Atlanta, Georgia focusing on deadly infections allegedly caused by the abortion pill RU-486, Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, today released a new special report: "The Clinton RU-486 Files." The report contains recently uncovered documents that shed new light on the Clinton administration's aggressive drive to push RU-486 to market in the United States. Judicial Watch obtained the documents from the National Archives at the Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock, Arkansas in February 2006, shortly after the archives allowed public access to Bill Clinton's presidential papers.

The newly disclosed documents include the Clinton administration's legal, political and press strategy memos for bringing RU-486 into the American marketplace - despite the manufacturer's historical refusal to permit marketing the drug in the United States. Analysis of the records shows:

- President Clinton ordered the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the FDA to coordinate the marketing of RU-486 as his first official act in office. Within one month, the FDA Commissioner had met with the RU-486 manufacturer and parent company.

- Official U.S. government political, economic and diplomatic pressure was brought to bear to strong- arm the companies into changing their policies in order to make the drug available in the United States. In one confidential memo, former HHS Secretary Donna Shalala brags that she and former FDA Commissioner David Kessler personally changed the positions of the makers of RU-486 to market the abortion pill in the United States.

- The FDA was compromised in its role as an objective reviewer of the safety and efficacy of the drug because of its active role in brokering a deal between pharmaceutical firms and an abortion rights foundation. (The five standard requirements for certifying a drug "safe and effective" were circumvented to rush RU-486 to market.)

"As our report shows, the Clinton administration pushed the abortion pill through the approval process in order to appease the abortion lobby," said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton. "These new documents prove the RU-486 approval process was infected by raw politics. Accordingly, Congress and other authorities should launch appropriate investigations. At least six women and 560,000 unborn children have lost their lives due to the Clinton administration's reckless drive to bring RU-486 to America. This dangerous abortion pill needs to be pulled off the market immediately."

Judicial Watch's 64-page report is available online here: Judicial Watch Report - http://judicialwatch.org/archive/2006/jw-ru486-report.pdf

From the article:

(The five standard requirements for certifying a drug "safe and effective" were circumvented to rush RU-486 to market.)

Does this mean families of women/girls that have died from RU-486 can sue the Clintons for wrongful death damages.

Seems like a class action suit against Bill and Hillary is in order to get a few dollars for the victims...

He and Hillary are responsible for the murder of millions of unborn children and the emotional distress of millions of women.

That is also true, especially with the veto of Partial Birth Abortion.

This particular article deals with RU-486 being rushed to market "as a miracle pill to for women to have abortions".

Your point is well taken... But there are some US Supreme Court Justices that have responsibility for the millions of unborn babies killed by abortion, as well as President Jimmy Carter (who favored abortion in the 1970's).

A good question. I have not seen the document posted on Freerepublic that this article references...

So that might be an indication that this organization is not highly watched by Freepers (and lurkers)...

I really don't know...

And this is a bad thing exactly why?
Self applied genetic improvement sounds like a fortunate thing, to me. Fewer libs... ? I can live with that.

Yep.

Because they only get 80% of what they want, they'll quit and get a: baby-killing, tax-raising, business-killing, Islamist-loving, Israel-hating, gay-marriage blessing, Democratic administration.

And Southern Wall? PFFFT. Democrats will give everyone in Mexico a right to vote in the US and require us to speak Spanish.

(Otherwise, it'd be discrimination.)

Then, as the terrorists claim victory, and blow up a major American city, the "I'm going home crowd," can beam with pride and say, "I sure showed 'em!"

Why can't these people THINK, onyx??

(Don't forget that another very early act of xlinton was to put homosexuals in the military........another good reason to get rid of Republicans, eh?? /sarc)

The Wall Street Journal did have an article about how abortion may have cost the Libs elections (2000, 2004 I believe were examples).

However, with the deaths of women/girls from RU486, it should be publicized that the Clintons cut corners to get RU486 to the market.

Some of those women who died might have become conservatives. And some of the babies that died might also have become conservatives -- after seeing the bad example of their parents...

But I do detect a touch of humor in your post...

thanks for the reminder, we seem to forget what Clinton and his witch were like. For some reason, I think his so-called "pro-life" wife, the now Senator Hitlery Clintoon, soon to be the next candidate for POTUS, was behind this since the beginning.

And as my tag line through the years has stated: If clinton could make ru-486 legal by executive order why can't president Bush make it illegal?

To date, no freeper has answered that question. I guess we will never know.

Compared to most of Clinton's acts; he could be nominated for sainthood for this one.

I thought Hillary's first action when she was made co-president in 1993 was to get "all their people out and all our people in"

The very first thing clinton did was to pass a group of Executive Orders ("Stroke of the Pen. Law of the land. Kinda Cool." --Paul Begala). They included the restoration of taxpayer funding for abortion all over the world, which had been cut off by Ronald Reagan. And an effort, later derailed, to authorize gays in the military.

Abortion and sexual perversion were always clinton's bottom-line issues, very popular with his base. He might agree to reduce welfare, but he was adamant on abortion.

Always thought Clinton's first act was gays in the military. Nevertheless, it's all about SEX!
