If I had told you on 9/11/2001 that we'd go four and half years and counting without another terrorist attack on US soil, would you have believed me?
If I had told you that US-led forces would secure Afghanistan in just a few months...something the Soviets couldn't accomplish in ten years...would you have thought I was crazy?
If I had told you that Saddam was gone, that Khadaffy had renounced terrorism, and that Iraq was on the verge of becoming the second democracy in the Middle East, would have thought I was on medication?
Sometimes in our disappointment of this administration, we often forget some of the positives. The economy is strong. More Americans are homeowners. With tax cuts, we're spending less time working for Uncle Sam.
And if you take those benefits for granted, just imagine how much different things would be under a President Al Gore.
So if the president's stance on immigration and spending upset you - and they do upset me - what are you going to do about it? Stay at home? Nothing could be worse for conservativism. Your non-support will usher in more immigrants, higher taxes, and weaker national security.
If the GOP loses Congress, George W. Bush will be removed from office. Nothing would embolden terrorists more. How can we be counted on to wage an effective war when we can't even decide who our enemy is?
George W. Bush isn't the enemy. But that's exactly the message conservatives will send to the world if they stay at home this November.
If you're upset with W. on immigration - write him, write a Republican Congressman, let him know how you feel. It was conservatives who got Bush to change his mind on Harriet Meirs.
I promise you, a Democratic Congress won't be nearly as responsive to your needs.

But hey, we really taught those bastard pubbies a lesson, didn't we! </s
I believe he did just that. He's realized that Algore, Hillary, Bela Pelosi and all the other Democrat leaders are laughing their a$$es off at the conservative who have their knickers in such a twist. We've been through this with Perot, and what did we get, Bill Clinton. For those who think he wasn't so bad for the country, just think what might have happened if he hadn't been such a horn dog. We may not have gotten that Republican Congress in 1994, and would be looking at President Algore, and several more liberals on the Supremes. It also sounds like the Buchanan brigadiers who thought George W. Bush wasn't pure enough for them and almost lost the election in 2000.
Conservatives could take a lesson from the Democrats. They back their folks no matter what. Our guy does a couple of things we don't like and we start to tear him down. We aren't doing ourselves or the country any favors by doing this.
"You ARE a troll. Calling other people names and mocking them doesn't make it any less true."
I'm not the one doing the name calling, here. And I'm no troll. You guys want to squelch every single bit of dissent. As if that's going to shore up support. It won't.
They have a series of leftist talking points, and formulaic insults, and that's it.
They are as clueless as the NYTimes...........their bible, I might add.
Too bad it's so late here. I'd love to keep batting the trolls around, but I gotta get some sleep.
Carry on! Fight the good fight, all!
Is your definition of calling for democrat takeover one who says they are not excited enough to go vote in November because the republican party abandoned them?
Do you NOT see the sarcasm in the questions posed?
The replies were largely EMOTIONAL. Check the date of that poll.
The only FR poll that causes me concern is the current poll.
***I voted for Bush in 2000 and 2004 for our nation to become independent on foreign oil by means of drilling our own oil and building new refineries.***
ANWAR has STILL not gotten through Congress, Florida voted NOT to allow Offshore drilling, And attorneys STILL will block ANY attempt to start a new refinery, or drilling of any kind.
You're blaming the WRONG person.....
**School Vouchers...DEAD (despite the GOP majority)**
School vouchers aren't dead, they are in hiatus because or CONGRESScritters lost the rhetorical battle to unions with HUNDREDS OF MILLIONS OF DOLLARS top throw around..
Again, you're blaming the wrong person...
**Social Security Reform...DEAD**
See above....
***More and more crosses are coming down off our buildings**
And if we lose to Democrats, how many do you think will be left??
***We're treating terrorist prisoners more and more like a liberal kidnergarden class***
Democrat absentee voters. What do you expect?
***Our borders are open and I guarantee you that the terrorists who come to the US to do the next attack will NOT be coming to the US through our airports.***
Most probably CORRECT, but until you start ENFORCING the laws, we'll get nowhere. That goes BOTH WAYS, but Dems know we are the only folks with the principles to kill ourselves over it........
"Well, that was an interesting post with absolutely NOTHING true in it."
Well, at least you avoided shreiking "liar" this time. You're getting better. Good for you.
See you tomorry.
Document with a direct Bush quote every one of your accusations.
Hint: you won't be able to.
LOL, and even better than teaching them a lesson is the 2 weeks of fawning MSM coverage "we" get as the "good conservatives" who committed suicide./s
Big boys accept the consequences of their words, Reg, and are able to defend them.
They don't whine about someone else 'squelching dissent.'
Come to THINK of it............that's just what JOHN KERRY said yesterday about President BUSH! ROFLOL!
That is why I didn't mention spending Einstein. Yes we are spending too much and GW takes the blame as he should BUT Reagan had the highest deficits in our history up to that time. He left office with Government an order of magnitude larger that it was when he came in. So it was not spam it was a fair account of just some of the areas that Reagan was more liberal than Bush. You cannot name ONE DAMNED THING that RR did while president that is more conservative than Bush and in almost every conservative metric, Bush has out-performed Reagan. If you don't like it then argue with the facts not me. At least Bush when asked who his model for the presidency was, he didn't say FDR.
I think you are selling your fellow freepers short with that comment. You disagree with them, and they with you. They realize many things, but have come to a different conclusion. To say they "don't realize" is condescending and frankly just plain wrong.
In reality, the argument is not about open vs. closed borders. The argument is about HOW to close the borders and always has been.
Your post, like many posts from both sides, is just tearing down your own teammates. If that is your agenda, then you are being successful. If you truly want to make progress on this issue, you are only setting things back.
We ALL need to stop it and start dealing with this issue more constructively.

FOTFLOL!
Exactly!
And you know what: guess who would be on this forum 24/7 b*t*ching and moaning about how bad it REALLY is with Dems in office?
The usual suspects.
See ya later! :)
