Goes to show that Bush does not tolerate lapses in integrity.

If this guy is going to play poker at hospitality suites he has too much time on his hands and is not doing his job.

If going to play poker at hospitality suites is where his priorities were it is good that he was let go as soon as possible. He should never have accepted the job in the first place if this is what he was doing.

"bribes and prostitutes were provided to a corrupt congressman."

Congress needs to be cleaned out with a wire brush.

"bribes and prostitutes were provided to a corrupt congressman." """

why was it necessary to use the word "corrupt" in that sentence? If bribes and prostitutes are provided, isn't it assumed that the recipient is corrupt?

And just because the info comes from a rat site does not mean it should be thrown away. These allegations are not out of the ordinary, and need to be thoroughly looked into.

What puzzles me is that Porter Goss seemed genuinely liked when he took over at CIA, and did not seem to have any "baggage".

I didn't see hardly any Democrat opposition to his nomination at the time and found that to be unsettling. Perhaps they felt he could be persuaded to play nice with the rats because of known baggage?

Which isn't to presume there is merit to this story. I expressed my concern about the lack of Democrat opposition to Goss in this forum at the time of his nomination.

So? What's the difference. Let the law decide, not a few who object to a persons personal life just because they don't like it. He performance on the job should be the only judgment we should make.

I would be cautious about believing any of this. Recall that Goss was cleaning house at the CIA, breaking up the leftwing "shadow government" the Clinton Administration had put in place. And who was the CIA "expert" the media was turning to today on this story? The traitor, Dana Priest. Also recall that the leftists made up all sorts of stuff about John Bolton. The rule of thumb is: THE LEFT LIES!

Almost forgot: Bush rarely stands up for his people. Why would Goss be an exception.

You don't need to read any further to find the factional vendetta.

They've been caught lying about their subscription numbers, and half the paper is full of inuendo and gossip.

I disagree. The head of CIA should be able to rise to higher standard than that. A guy who can't control himself eventually ends up crapping in his pants

Personal destruction is now the American way. ... Many great Americans have so called skeletons in their closet, should we eliminate what they have to offer just because some of us disagree with what they do as long as it is not against the law?

You have missed my point entirely. What ever happened to the world [the one I grew up in] where we were told [a] "you can't have everything" and [b] "it is a world of choices"?

[a] We knew from an early age that, if we wanted to have a career, or marry someone "nice" ... that we had to comport ourselves in a certain/proper manner so that there would be no hint of scandal that would get in the way of what we wanted.

[b] We knew from an early age, call it character building by our parents, if you will, that if we made the wrong choices they would come back to haunt us and get in the way of things we wanted. Therefore, we had to make the right choices ...

I will now add: [c] Anyone with a lick of sense knows how the political game of gotcha and dirty tricks by the MSM and the Loyal Opposition is played. No one goes out to play basseball expecting to have 4 outs [unless they have managed to "fix" the homeplate umpire]. If one wants to play in any "game", including the political one, they must assess the rules [whether they are fair or not] and be prepared to play by the rules in effect ... not the rules they wish were there.

And, all the whinging and crybaby tactics after the fact do not serve anyone well. So, before someone calls me a sanctimonious ass again ... morality really has very little to do with it ... it is more a matter of intelligence and self-control to advance one's ambitions/goals. The choice of career and family and/or personal integrity over a night of lust with a prostitute, or a bribery session cloaked in the garb of a poker game should be a no brainer; but, again, it is a world of choices ... to each his own.

Lest we all forget ... it is not all that complex ... it can be expressed in just a few words:

Self-respect and self-reliance.
