I've lived in both. Austin USED to be a great town. Now? Shoot, visited there a few years ago and was so incredibly disappointed.

I remembered smoke-filled blues bars; a wild attitude. Now......Austin has been pathetically California-ized. Went to a bar.....no smoking, everyone was sipping their waters as they waited for their tables to open up in the restaurant section.

Color me disgusted.

Well, A friend and I went walked across campus to go to Great Wall for some Mongolian barbecue. The weather was excellent and encouraged the lovely ladies of the campus to dress appropriately. Who says Lubbock doesn't have much scenery? :-)

I, too, remember when Austin was a fun Texas town. Ya know, back the days before it became the eastern annex of Berkeley.
