Not likely. The city should sell the plot of land that the cross sits on to a local church.

The city must gift the property to the Veterans. Then it would no longer be "state" property.

My son lives in La Mesa, real close to Orange Grove. He showed me a cross on top of a hill. I wonder if it's the same one. I have a picture. I took it from his patio. I took another one at dark. I could still see it, faintly.

Federal judges have no authority over State matters with regard to religion. None whatsoever. Federal judges only have authority if Congress passes a law. This ruling is a violation of the 10th Amendment and can simply be ignored. No fines need to be paid. The Mayor of San Diego should call a press conference to announce he is nullifying the ruling, in order to educate the public about the seperation of powers of the Constitution.

Time for the people to rise up and hang a "judge"!
Of course they can cut the "judge" down before too much harm is done.

Can't they just declare this illegal cross an undocumented cross and ignore the law?
To: WestVirginiaRebel
Yawn..
A dime a dozen. One judge implements it, the next judge takes it away. Been doing this since the 60s.

And who's going to enforce the collection?
City should immediately sell the 10' x 10' plot of land to a private trust.
To: WestVirginiaRebel
doesn't "san" mean "Saint"? How about changing the name of the city like they did St.Petersburg to Leningrad in the good old USSR?

"I am a Judge! I have spoken! You will obey!" Perhaps this judge should be fitted for tar and feather finery and be given a free ride out of town on a thin wooden fence part.

I'm waiting for the ACLU lawsuit to start changing city names like "San Diego", "San Francisco", "St. Louis", etc. because they are named after religious figures....
It's only a matter of time...
