But the defense attorneys in this case shouldn't be celebrating their victory in keeping their client from the death penalty.

The are simply celebrating the end of the gravy train they've been on for the last few years. If the sentence had been death, they'd be on it for several more years with extensive appeals.

Great job by the jury. They have just proved to our enemies that we do not have the will to win the war.

I agree.

Nor could I. Not the time nor the place but he was going to get his spin in.

I wasn't referring to your age, but the fact that you're 29 is somewhat surprising.

I see you're endorsing life in prison for Moussaoui.

Did you know that he'll be in the same prison in Colorado as Ramzi Yousef, the first WTC bomber from 1993? And that Yousef has been directing activities and corresponding with jihadists from around the world?

Still think it's a good idea to keep Moussaoui around? If the answer is yes, you're clearly a ringer.

LOL Could Biden be right for once?

I must be on some serious sauce today, because I agree with Biden. Argh. I never thought I would live to see the day.

well...this opens a real can of worms.....hostage taking in efforts to gain his release....suicidal attacks to pressure for his release....every 6 months we have to hear from him in efforts for a retrial....$35,000 per year bed and meals, for a least 30 yrs....what is the point of keeping him alive????

That's what I like when the anti-death penalty crowd gives an accounting of how much it costs to go through the appeals process for someone on death row.

It's not like the people in jail with life sentences don't appeal. And if you say "life without appeal", then what about "new evidence" that "proves innocence"? If someone in prison with a life sentence isn't going to benefit from DNA testing, etc, then why bother keeping him alive just to say you didn't kill an innocent man?

And for the count, we are looking at $100,000/year minimum at Supermax.

You think that prison was cheap to build?

Yes, and I am going to watch a movie, NOW.

Yes, tonight would be a good night for a movie in which good triumphs over evil, and the bad guys end up dead.

No, he'll get Dahlmer'd. As much as we hate to consider it, some of those criminals are Americans too. Some of them lost family or friends on 9/11.

Unless they keep him in solitary, he won't make it a year. Someone will off him. And I doubt that there will be an exhaustive investigation into the incident.

"With the death penalty, if DNA evidence is later found proving the innocence of someone, or another person is linked to the crime through DNA, then you cannot reverse the execution."

All of the death row inmates who were supposedly exonerated through DNA evidence weren't executed. Even Barry Scheck has said this. If these inmates were sentenced to life instead of death, what's the big difference? They still lost several years of their freedom. It's also contradictory to argue that life imprisonment is more severe than the death penalty and then simultaneously claim that you're concerning about innocent people being executed. Would an innocent person dying of natural causes in prison while serving a life sentence make you any happier?

Cute. Nice try, but I can't let you get off so easy. You made a comment and I responded to it. What I said was, "You are contradicting yourself all over the place! ROFL! You say that you oppose the death penalty but you also think that "ideally executions would take place within 1 year of the sentence". Do you even see what you're saying?

You are against death penalty because someone who is innocent MIGHT be executed. But on the other hand, you want them excuted within one year which would of course deny them the possibility of having their case reviewed or appealed. Amazing logic there, iltc. Me thinks you're a little one."

I'm sorry about that last part, perhaps you're not a little one, just terribly naive on the Moussaoui situation and death penalty, and prisons too.

re: Let him out on parole and he wouldn't make it to the parking lot.

Yeah... and the person that did it (a great American for sure), would have CAIR, the ACLU and Lord knows who else screaming for their execution.

Agreed. Osama and the terrorists must be laughing their asses off. We're in more danger now.

ROFL I am rolling on the floor laughing. If I was 29 months then I would be the smartest toddler ever.

Don't laugh, it might be an improvement. ;)

Is it possible the judge tomorrow might negate the jury decision, and sentence Moussaoui to death anyway?
