A story that flew under the radar is that Bush worked (and I mean worked very hard!) to open US highways to Mexican trucker traffic. It took years, but finally Bush got what he wanted and now trucks with Mexican plates and Mexican drivers can transport on US Highways.

Ain't that a comfort? With our already lax border secutity, we have foreign drivers legally privileged to haul huge rigs into US cities. Independent truckers now have south-of-the-border competition.

Didn't fly under my radar. I see no real problem with Mexican trucks being allowed to drive our highways, as long as the drivers and the trucks meet our standards and the cargoes are inspected at the border.

But ... My support for Bush is drying up real fast.

And let our truckers try to go into Mexico. You have to change drivers at the border. Basically, have to hire a Mexican national to drive the rig.

You are right... and the big rigs are polluting too, and the US tax payers are paying I believe up to 3 grand to have them retrofitted to eliminate the pollution...what a great deal....
