One woman handed over $400 from her pockets and the other gave up her purse with 200 euros, $100, her passport, plane tickets and a cell phone.

Hold on....

So, these girls had over $700 US (depending on the Euro exchange rate) on them. He expects us to believe they were "assistants"...? More like hookers.....allegedly.

200 euros = $225 at todays rate.

Not unusual, considering Palm Beach economy and that they were entertainers (it doesn't say what kind of entertaines).

Listen, it would thrill me that somebody in showbusiness as "flamboyant" as Copperfield would have hookers.

smart magicians pay their assistants very well. For one thing in most stage tricks it's the assistants that do most of the real work, and a lot of it is really uncomfortable (the hiding holes for various disappearances/ transformations tend to be rather tiny). For another they know how all the tricks work, there's nothing quite like a disgruntled assistant to help some other magician's career.

Nope, David uses female assistants. Very attractive ones too, and considering how much he makes, it's not out of the question for them to be carrying around 7 bills.

What do you carry when you travel? Nickles and dimes? A few hundred dollars does not warrant your insult.

If you have ever seen Copperfield's show, you would see that his "assistants" all look like super models, not hookers and they have to be very well trained and talented to help pull off the illusions. That equals good pay!

Many years ago when taking my kids to see one of his shows, we ran into him near the theater walking back from dinner with "2 assistants." My little girls had a major crush on him and he was very nice to them and promised autographed pictures for them after the show. I was deeply impressed with the assistants. :`))

Strange. $400.00 carried by one person is not uncommon. Maybe where you come from ...
