Gov. Ed Rendell took a campaign swing through the Slate Belt on Sunday afternoon, days after visiting the Lehigh Valley.
Rendell spoke before about 80 people at a Women's Democratic Club luncheon in Bangor, less than two weeks after Republican candidate Lynn Swann, the former Pittsburgh Steelers star, stopped in the borough to talk about tort reform and economic development. He was swarmed by Steelers fans seeking autographs.
Rendell outlined several ''things we've accomplished'' since taking office. He blamed fellow Democrats for letting Republicans do a ''masterful job in manipulating the issues,'' particularly gay marriage and abortion.

From a book review of "A PRAYER FOR THE CITY," Rendell's behavior toward women etc is (slightly) mentioned here: http://extras.denverpost.com/books/book163.htm I guess that's one of the reasons for his nickname, Fast Eddie.
Fast? Maybe he was the wham-bam kinda guy. ; ) He certainly is not the one to be telling us about morals!
Admitting he is not a biblical scholar, Rendell said ''you have to look awfully hard'' to find anything about abortion or gay marriage in the Bible.Looks like Jim Wallis from Sojourners is writing the script for these monsters.
All I know about Rendell is what I've read and from his photos...my first impression is that of a used car salesman who knows a thing or two about concrete boots.
Really? Is it because he was DNC Chair? I haven't followed the case.

Manipulating? Oh puhlease! Republicans have always just been reacting to the courts and their usurpation of power. There is little opportunity for manipulation by anyone but those who file the lawsuits and those who write the ludicrous, anti-constitutional opinions.
Regarding abortion, every law Republicans get passed gets overturned by judges. I suspect homosexuality will go the same way, especially when that issue suffers from so many friendly-fire wounds. We are totally crippled on that debate. We've lost and we're just waiting for the judges to make it official. Until enough people with sense and backbone shout out "The emperor has no clothes," exposing the absurdity of the entire homosexual agenda, we are going to lose and lose and lose -- right down to the hearts of our own children.
Homosexuality is abnormal and absurd. Abortion is violent and appalling. The end. It's not a mean thing to speak the truth.
Veterans groups should be protesting what Fast Eddie did in the 2004 elections at every chance they get.
For Gov. Rendell, I guess he feels that soldiers and sailors can die for their country, but they should not be allowed to vote -- at least by HIS ACTIONS in the 2004 Election.
People need to remember the dirty deed this Governor pulled on those fighting and serving in Afghanistan and Iraq (and the seas around those countries)...

No, Mr. Rendall, you most certainly are not a Biblical scholar. In fact, this statement isn't even close to being correct. The Golden Rule is unique to the Christian message. Not even Hillel's later version states things in the same way, for there is a difference between not doing unto others what you would wish they not do and doing as you would wish.

Gov. Ed Rendell has received $147,688 since 2002 from members of the development family that owns Station Square, a potential casino site. Since the gambling law was passed, he also has returned $15,000 from a license candidate.
He and other politicians who have received contributions from potential applicants say the donations will have no impact on who gets the lucrative license, which will be awarded by a state board appointed by Rendell and top legislative leaders.
And those who have given say it was done with good government in mind, not the slots license. SOURCE

The $15,000 returned was donated by 84 Lumber owner Joe Hardy individually and through his political action group. Hardy seeks a slots-resort license for his Nemacolin Woodlands resort.
Out going mayor of Pittsburgh Tom Murphy, when asked about the slot machine situation in the city, said bluntly "the fix is in." He was referring to a possible slot machine license for the city going to Forest City enterprises, a front group for Harrah's Casino group. Taking serious money from a potential slot machine operator who now has the inside track to build in Pittsburgh, while virtually sealing the fate of the Penguins hockey team doesn't sound very moral, Ed.
Using local Philadelphia taverns owned by youe friends as polling places on election day so that over 2,000 votes are already on certain machines before the polls open isn't exactly moral, Ed.
Using union thugs to assault political enemies, then having your wife preside over their court cases to ensure the outcome isn't exactly moral, Ed.
Jetting a battallion of lawyers to FLA iafter the 2000 election to disenfranchise and discount thousands of absentee ballots cast by our military members overseas, while championing voting rights for convicted felons isn't exactly moral, Ed.
In short, Ed, you have no morals to speak of and have no right whatsoever to question the morality of your political opponents. Every Pennsylvanioan with half a brain and a modicum of morality needs to vote you out of office and do whatever possible to ensure you never hold office again.
