IRS, Social Security Administration could slow illegal immigration

WASHINGTON - Two federal agencies are refusing to turn over a mountain of evidence that investigators could use to indict the nation's burgeoning workforce of illegal immigrants and the firms that employ them.

Last week, immigration cops trumpeted the arrests of nearly 1,200 illegal workers in a massive sting on a single company, but they admit that they relied on old-fashioned confidential informants and an unsolicited tip to get their investigation going.

It didn't have to be that hard.

The IRS and the Social Security Administration routinely collect strong evidence of potential workplace crimes, including names and addresses of millions of people who are using bogus Social Security numbers, their wage records and the identities of the bosses who knowingly hire them.

But they keep those facts secret.

"One internal study found that a restaurant company had submitted 4,100 duplicate Social Security numbers for workers. Other firms submit inaccurate names or numbers reports for nearly all of their employees. One child's Social Security number was used 742 times by workers in 42 states."

You know it's amazing when you think about it. The various govt agencies are more than happy to supply a legal taxpaying citizen's info to one another in order to go after them for tax crimes, childsupport etc... BUT dare not go after an illegal scam artist and his/her scam artist employer through the same method!

What is ironic is that a lot of kids will grow up, allready qualified for full Social Security benefits (40 quarters), that some illegal worked for....strange cosmos.

Exactly! You try breaking any IRS or Social Security laws! We would never see or hear from you again!!! It makes me furious!

ILLEGALS have more rights in this country than LEGAL citizens!
Even the Neo-Nazis march got more police enforcement than the ILLEGALS did. And no I am not a Neo-Nazis supporter. I think they are despicable.

I work for a construction company. One of our cleaning girls had worked for us for over two years, when we were notified by the IRS that her social security number was bogus. We told her that there was "a problem" with it (benefit of the doubt) so she could perhaps correct a legit error. She went home and didn't return.

C'mon, TWO YEARS for the IRS to figure that out?

They're ordered to ignore this by someone's authority. The answer? Illegals are paying millions into Social Security and Medicare, that they will (it's assumed) never take back out.

Social Security Reform having bombed out, this is our governments way of postponing the baby boomers' meltdown.

Thank the Dems. Thank AARP.

Until Citizens stand up for their rights, the illegals will hold sway.

We need a couple hundred million march on DC!

Why should they? Follow the money. Both the SS and IRS are making money off of it.

Two federal agencies are refusing to turn over a mountain of evidence

How/why is it that some two bit attorney/judge/critter can demand the President or Pentagon release records, regardless of how it may effect our national security, but the IRS and SSA don't have to?

Not correct. They don't credit your account when the names don't match.

However, they do keep the money.

Government corruption to the tune of $6 BILLION a year. Just wait until the illegals all sue for reparations.
