Peculiar strategy. Maybe Arnold's handler knows he needs votes in LA in order to be reelected and hopes appointing the mayor's sister as a judge will help.

Why is he appointing Superior Court judges for L.A.? In San Diego they come up for a vote.

If he wants the democrat vote, he should register as one!

Why is he appointing Superior Court judges for L.A.? In San Diego they come up for a vote.

These are interim appointments to fill vacancies for those who either died, retired, or were given other appointments. After fulfilling the remainder of the 6 year term, they will have to run in a future election, but "incumbent" is definitely an advantage on the ballot. The same thing goes for San Diego (and for every county).
