I was just looking at Allens website for his senate re-election bid, his philosophy on Government is near perfect!! He has an all American family and his wife just has that first lady look to her which complements George's Presidential leadership 'vibe' Any FReepers know more about allen? Is his name being tossed around for 2008?

his phony position on abortion

..I'm not aware that this is the case, Eternal

Anyway, I haven't seen the Republican base this upset with the party in a long long time.

I am confident that the vetting process of the primaries will expose anyone who is a closet Establishment Republican.

And IF all the familiar names become roadkill, perhaps there is a statesman (or woman) out there with the vision and conviction to do what is right in this two-front threat.

He supports abortion up until 'the commencement of brainwaves', that's clear...which means he supports first trimester abortions.

He has also answered questionaires in such a way that shows him supporting abortions up until 'viability'...which would have him supporting abortions throughout the second trimester and into the third.

In that same questionaire, he seems to support abortions because of fetal abnormality...an atrocious position for anyone who cares about the protection of innocent human life.

And IF all the familiar names become roadkill, perhaps there is a statesman (or woman) out there with the vision and conviction to do what is right in this two-front threat.

We can hope.

If stories about a bunch of Washington insiders and bureaucrats acting like the traitorous sharks that they are is what piques your interest, that's your business.

LOL...the funny part of this whole thing is that I'm way out of step on George Allen. Dr. Keyes and the Senator are old friends.

Agreed. You're way out of step on George Allen. I think this makes 5 times we are in agreement, but I'm not going to start worrying unless you decide to support him, given your track record.

The constant debating over whether Allen is pro-life enough or not is kinda silly.....

Considering Allen is cut out of the same cloth as W he's virtually unelectable at this point

You know, you really are a better person than that...twisting people's words and all.

My point, for all with basic reading comprehension skills, is that I'm completely out of step with Alan Keyes on George Allen.

You can't grasp that?

That has to be one of the most ridiculous statements I've ever seen posted on FR.

But it's a good example of just why none of your candidates never get beyond 20 percent.

Hmmm...funny, considering the fact that I supported the winner in the last two presidential elections.

You agree with George Allen that the several states have the right to allow the slaughter of little children. Just lovely.

Open your eyes. The states aren't killing babies. It's the good old federal government that is supporting it.

The federal government has carved out a power for itself not seen in the Constitution that prevents states from banning abortions. That's the kind of centralized government, baby-vacuum-cleaning, federalism that you just love.

Do you think the states have the right to end religious speech?

What part of the first Amendment don't you get?

If you like W you'll like Allen.
He's another big spending, inarticulate, good ol boy, social conservative.

"good ole boy" --- is that your routine characterization of Southerners?

What part of the first Amendment don't you get?

What part of the Fifth and the Fourteeth Amendments don't you get?

Why are the words "God-given, unalienable, life and liberty" so hard for you to comprehend?

Neither has the right to do so, or to allow it, no more than they have the right to coerce or allow slavery.

Hello EV.

Are you aware that Frist, Spector, McCain and Kennedy plan to shove immigration legislation down our throats before the Memorial Day recess?

Hello. Yeah. Stinks, don't it.

They haven't even begun to understand the firestorm that is going to hit them if they succeed.

It could be the beginning of the end of the GOP.

There will be many, many people who will never forgive them.

..anyone seeking the nomination from the GOP will not, IMHO, ever get away with an ambiguous position on life.

I think this really identifies a crisis within the party. There are a growing number of Repubs who think they can succeed without the Religious Right \Pro-Life wing of the party.
