I think the Star Spangled Banner communicates the right town. It would be a travesty if we chose a feely-touchy song to be our national anthem (this includes God Bless America, a great song, but not a national anthem).

I like the one we have. But if you wanted to replace it, the first one that comes to mind is The Battle Hymn of the Republic.

That said, the Battle Hymn is a great song (even though it was written by an early socialist and the wife of the man who funded John Brown's raid . . . ). When they sang it at Pres. Reagan's funeral, they did the same Peter Wilhousky arrangement that we used to sing in the high school chorus. Best arrangement going . . . sent chills up my spine.
