It's not just a paper ballot. It's an auditable document.

That's a good point. Couple that with an identification requirement, and election fraud takes a big hit.

The last thing Italy needs is a thread-bare socialist bureaucrat like Romano Prodi running the country with a razor-thin majority which includes the Communists. It's a recipe for ruin.

I understand electronic voting machines in trunks work well too to insure lefty successes.

True Story. I was a Peace Corps Volunteer in Sierra Leone 1977-80. In 1978, the ruling party held a national referendum to confirm the existence of a One Party State. In every town and village, people were asked to cast ballots in this way: to choose one of two colored stones (Red for the ruling party; Green for the opposition party) and then toss that stone into a large box that had a hole in the top.

Well. I went to the voting place in my town early on that day to observe what I dreamed would be "Democracy in Action." Balloting began at 7:00 a.m. At precisely 7:01 a.m., an election official opened the top of the ballot box and poured ALL of the Red stones into the ballot box and declared that the referendum passed unanimously. He tossed the box into his Mercedes Benz and drove away. True Story.

It's tradition! No government in Italy shall last longer than few months. Berlusconi was an anomaly because he led the country for few years, italians will assure it will not happen again.

Correction:

The last thing Italy needs is a thread-bare socialist bureaucrat like Christine Gregoire running the country with a razor-thin majority which includes the Communists. It's a recipe for ruin.

Regardless of which side this comes from, it is evidence of vote fraud.

Corruption? In Italian politics? Astounding!

Yhe left is the same whether in the U.S. or Italy, or around the world ... lies, criminal behavior, etc. anything is acceptable so long as it leads to their gaining power. Were Carvile and the forehead Bagala over there prior to this election like they were in Israel a few years back, as 'advisors'?

Hmm, wonder if Ron Sims and Dean Logan went over and "helped" them with the election.
