Want to make a statement against illegal immigration? Grassroots protest planned.

Posted on 04/12/2006 4:19:40 AM PDT by Diggler

Since it seems like we can't count on anyone to shut off the tide of illegal immigration because each party is falling all over the other one pandering for votes from the illegals who aren't supposed to vote anyways, it's time to show those in Washington what we think. Since we have jobs and can't show up in the streets in the millions, there is a grassroots movement growing that should get their attention.

The idea is to get a concrete brick and mail it to the Senate. Include a note with it (or write it with a Sharpie on the brick) saying something like "This is to help with the wall along the southern border. Hope it helps." We are going to time the sending of the bricks to show up around May 5 (Cinco de Mayo). Imagine what the senate mailroom would look like with thousands upon thousands of bricks stacked up inside.

You should be able to mail a brick for less than $10. If enough people do this (and momentum is picking up) it can be a powerful message to send for a small investment.

Someone put up a temporary page here and there will probably be a more professional page with a dedicated domain name coming in the very near future.

Let the congresscritters know what you think about failing to secure the borders!

It is just too darned bad that we won't get the coverage that the IL-legals have gotten! Washington will sell us out AGAIN! I will be there to rally here in Mi. but in this liberal h3!! hole we are just shouting into the wind!

The progressive liberal socialist movement is in full swing and they are winning! More and more illegals are sneaking in and are well financially backed by liberals, probably Soros. Not to mention all the freebies (welfare and every entitlement)they are getting which the liberals don't care because we taxpayers are picking up the bill.

But sending a brick...ahh I don't know about that.

You don't need the coverage for this. It's in their faces.

If you go to a rally, you rely on the media to represent your side. You know they will take angles to make the illegals' side look huge and do everything they can to make your side look minimal.

By taking this approach, you don't need the media. They will take notice when several tons of bricks are sitting in their mail rooms.

I feel sorry for you guys. We went through this in South Africa 15 years ago. The joke is that Oppenheimer, who was South Africa’s Soros, has now moved HQ's to London because of the crime and the nationalization of the mines and the diamond cutting business. So the libs create a hell-hole that lasts about 10 years before they have to move out.

You're right, sad but true, the way I see it

The Conservative, Evangelical, movement has just been sidetracked!

IF you all are wondering why, suddenly, our (R) Senators have appeared to lost their collective minds and should have passed HR4437, and why suddenly the undocumented worker is unionizing (a liberal idea) it is because there is an OBVIOUS battle in House and Senate, between good and evil!!

What is that battle? Plain and simple, Conservativism and liberalism, commonly referred to as RINO's, Republican, Liberal.

This might explain what is happening and why:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_conservatism
Edmund Burke know who he is?

Are all Republicans conservative? Is being a Republican Conservative a state of mind, a philosophy?

We FReepers have stated again and again that we will never accept or even allow liberals, socialists to take over this country, that our politicians who represent the Republican party had better stick to Republican values, conservative ideals. Than suddenly we are hit with the illegal undocumented worker MOVEMENT!

And suddenly, except for a few Republicans they are passing or desiring to pass legislation that is in agreement with everything we are against, LIBERAL SOCIALISM.

I don't know about you but personally it shocked me! I felt we were all betrayed.

The illegals are not only getting welfare, medicaid and all the freebies we have to offer we taxpayers are footing the bill. They are organizing and the ones who pick fruit have a UNION!! Unions=liberal socialist movement.

Unless you all are prepared to accept a life of liberal socialist movement and have to set aside every ideal you have been taught and believe in than you must find the true conservative republicans and tell them to not allow the takeover of the liberal socialists. Pass HR4437 is the ONLY saving grace for us our beliefs and life as we know it!

If you use the flat-rate box, it is $8.10 to mail any weight. The box can not "bulge", but whatever goes in will go for the flat-rate. The boxes are free at the Post Office. We use them for soldiers all the time.

I'd like to offer an alternative solution. The GOP currently in office are taking their base for granted. They know that, in November, most of us will, despite our threats to the contrary, turn out to oppose the election of Democrats to office. Let's face it, staying home, voting third party, or voting Democrats in is a lose-lose proposition, both for Republicans AND for the US.

So, let's turn this into a win-win. Rather than be forced into a squeeze play by 'Pubbie pols who have forgotten how they got to Washington, let's replace them with a new class of conservatives who know what the Constitution says, who undersatnd what the legal system is for, who know the value and importance of American citizenship and understand the effort required to earn/save a dollar. Let's replace the current crop of arrogant, political elitists with conservatives who will enact restraints on the budget and let the President know that Americans don't want their borders opened to an invading army of illegals who disrespect our laws and our sovereignty.

Between now and November, let's find, fund, and elect a new group of conservative politicians who understand what the rule of law means, what a government of the people, by the people and for the people means, and whose vote can't be bought by any union, PAC, or organization.

In November, let's take our government AND our country back!!! But, we need to start today.

So the right thing to do is to sit on your hands and pull the lever once every couple of years, and that's the best you can do?

These politicians never get held accountable for anything unless it happens within a couple months of their election cycle and they know it.

Some of us choose to do more than just show up and vote in November.

The problem with this is the well-oiled political machines on both the Dem/Rep sides. Anyone who tries to start a primary run is discouraged and they attempt to block them at every turn. People are more worried about pork and getting seniority so their senator can be on different committees, like my own Arlen Specter. You have virtually no chance of running against an incumbent from your own party in a primary and winning.

From a Mexican let me attempt to explain in simple terms how we do things here in Mexico City. YOU people in the North elect officials, and when that person gets to Washington DC, you send a fax, write an email, plan a visit, send a lobbyist, or maybe you pay for a full page ad in the Wall Street Journal, or open a Blog Site on the Internet. Talk Radio Show hosts battle fiercely all of the pros and cons of every law. When something becomes LAW, it is what RULES the country.
Here in Mexioc, we elect officials, but we don't have free talk shows, our radios play lots of music and do soccer ball interviews, open lines are radio talk about local problems with law, social services trash removal etc.
Most Mexicans don't know how to blog, seldom READ...much less anything that is politically or makes people think about the issues, like TAXATION burdens reduce growth and prosperity.
So, in Mexico we take to the streets. We scream, holler, parade. We do this for religious and political reasons. So for every person that is Mexican in the street, it is like an email, our way of lobbying. Thus instead of being a nation ruled by LAW, it sometimes becomes the nations that has the biggest MOB. Remember the student strikes in Mexico City, they wanted to raise Tuition from $4.00 US per year, to $16 per year, and they offered to do student loans. Riots disrupted activities at the UNAM for more than one year.
BEWARE. At least that's the way it appears to me. Mob rule, what is this called? Che Guerrava is the most visible icon in the Southern States of Mexico, and when asking local indigent Mexicans WHAT he stood for, the only response MOST people can give is that he was adamantly and totally ANTI-American. Uhmnnnn

Doug Edelman

THE CITIZENS' STRIKE
What began as a tongue in cheek suggestion in a Sher Zieve article is blossoming into a real grassroots movement.

Pointing to the demonstrations and boycott threats by illegal aliens over legislative actions in the arena of illegal immigration, Sher cited their talking point that they're showing us how important they are to us... that we can't survive without them. Sher then posed the idea of a counter-protest by the real CITIZENS of the US, a Citizens' Strike in support of enforcing immigration law and securing our borders. Sort of a "Take A Day Off For America" campaign.

Though originally posed merely as a rhetorical exercise to stimulate thought, there is now grassroots movement to truly take the idea to the streets.

May 5, 2006 has been selected as the day for a 1 day "strike", where supporters will transact no commerce. They will remain home from work, using vacation, leave, sick time or whatever is available to them. They will take no public transportation. They will transact no business. They will make no purchases. Many will turn off TV, radio and their computers. For one day, they will not contribute to the economy of the nation. For one day they will focus on the home, family, books etc. This is to draw attention to their depth of concern over illegal immigration, and their desire to see real action taken to secure the borders and enforce immigration law.

May 5th is a symbolic date, as it is also Cinco de Mayo, a Mexican holiday – ironically commemorating the defeat of an invading army (and who's surprised that the defeated army was the French?) at The Battle Of Puebla in 1862.

A website dedicated to the effort can be found at http://citizensonstrike.us

A standard brick won't fit in a Flat Rate Priority Mail box.

The brick doesn't need to be in a box to be mailed. Simply wrap it up like a present in grocery sack brown paper and packing tape.

Just as I never publicly admitted that "Chappaquiddick Teddie" and "Bahney Fwank" served as Senator and Representtive for my district when I lived in MA, I'm afraid there is no way in H#XX that I would ever call "'Magic Bullet -- Scottish Law -- Bury it in the Litterbox' Arlen", "my own" Senator...
