Yes, some of the GOP seem to be scared out of their wits by the ILLEGAL ALIENS marching in Phoenix and LA back on 3/24 and voted accordingly for AMNESTY. Too chicken to do the real hard work, the thing that needs to be done immediately - put the military on the border and stop the flow TODAY not 10 years from now. Ten years from now the SW states will be part of Mexico.
Barring that, it simply is another obstacle, and if I was going to be paid three times my annual for each day worked, I would find numerous ways across, and so will anyone else so driven.
Just how much enforcement do you honestly picture at the "wall"?
Ouch...that has to hurt for the RINOS and Jorge.
Hi Carl...good work!
let them keep marching...this numbers will only go up with all that Reconquista crap
Was that picture taken in Rogers, Arkansas?
Walls are physical barriers - they are not easily overcome even by motivated parties. Have you seen Isreal's wall? It's not just a 8 foot high concrete fence that you can lean a ladder on. It's a multi-tiered wall that makes it very difficult to cross.
GOP = The Whigs
Hasta la vista
Maybe there's hope yet.
Tell that to the Mongols and the West Germans.
BUMP.
Lifted and posting it on other threads!
THANK YOU!
However, consider, if you will, that no wall, even the great one, will deter hordes bent on getting to the other side. Boat loads simply come around. The wall becomes an inconvenience for the truly focused, not an insurmountable obstacle. You can still do the adverb to it.
The reason for the migration needs to be squashed.
Americans support building a security fence along the entire 2,000 mile U.S.- Mexican border by a landslide, a new Time magazine poll has found.
Not a fence. A wall.
A wall would work - it's a physical structure that people would have a very hard time getting over and it's not like it wouldn't be patrolled.
It is not clear why so many are trying to act like a wall is akin to thin piece of paper.
To be clear, a wall will never be built. Bush will not allow it.
Unfortunately, the 2 steps that would solve the immigration problem and make the current illegals deport would never be allowed by Bush either - cutting off social services to illegals and cracking down on employers.
The germans did have an..shall we say ..negative incentive...ie, shot to death on site when seen doing so. Then again, it was a wall around a city, designed to keep people in. Not a couple of thousand miles from san diego to the Gulf. Then, how long is the remainder of our non mexican borders? Do you think those who wish to come north will simply throw their arms up in defeat and relegate themselves to the life they have currently?. None of them will get into boats and go across the north Gulf coast?
There are any number of recent, novel, nonlethal solutions to controlling unauthorized border crossings. Crowd control has advanced incredibly in the past several years. Sound weapons that can make entire crowds crap themselves, throw up uncontrollably or run from the piercing noise. Weapons that can generate incredibly foul odors. Even weapons that cause loss of motor function.
Shoot, my neighborhood looks like that already and I don't even live in a border (southern) state.
If they're so darn motivated and ingenious then why haven't they improved their situation at home?
I know it sounds all romantic and all to pit human spirit against a structure but the plain facts are that walls work - they work everyday.
I am not disagreeing with you regards the need for a wall. I am simply stating that, IF one is built, and a substantial one out of necessity, it still must be enforced, with violent consequences, and certain, should someone test the barrier. Otherwise, it may as well be planned and constructed by the people who build senator Byrd's freeways, and just as useless.
Why do you say this? The border patrol could just round them up, give them water and soup and put them back on the other side of the wall.
Most illegals pay "coyotes" to guide them across with fees being very high and can take years to save. If the wall resulted in a very low success rate then that is a HUGE deterrent.
A wall doesn't have to stop them all (the Berlin wall didn't either) - it just has to enough of a deterent to slow it to a trickle.
