So much for the jobs that "no American wants." Somehow, I don't think this will stop illegal immigration, though. It'll just eliminate one of the excuses. If these jobs are no longer readily availbale, maybe they'll take the time to come here legally? One can only hope.

Robots set to transform agriculture. Next time, Mr. Farmer, check those worker S.S. #'s against the Government database!

The more of these unskilled laborers we allow into the country, the more of them that we will have to support on unemployment and welfare when they are displaced by robots. They'll sit around and drink tequila, make babies and commit crimes on our nickle.

While in graduate school in biochemistry at a major agricultural school,
I noted that the agricultural engineering department seemed to be the most nearly
moribund department in the sciences.
All I could think was that with all the cheap labor, there was just no
push to automate a lot of the agricultural enterprise beyond what we
had done by about 1970.
About the time we were flooded with illegal immigrants, wasn't it?

Nah! They'll just get on welfare that much sooner.

When can we get robots to replace Congress. Or do robots have too much of a soul to replace the people of Congress?

From what I've heard, most illegals are doing landscaping, construction, and other formerly blue-collar jobs. That's why we have so many in the Northeast despite so few farms.

Bump. Ag is finding it difficult to get even illegal labor--the illegals want the suburbs and cities and construction jobs, not picking strawberries.
More power to robots and farmings--this tech could bring back small farming in the US, which would make for better produce.
