Supporters of President Hugo Chavez threw eggs, fruit and vegetables at the U.S. ambassador's car Friday, and a group of motorcyclists chased his convoy for miles, at times pounding on the vehicles, a U.S. Embassy official said. No one was hurt.
Embassy spokesman Brian Penn said Venezuelan police escorts did not intervene as the car carrying Ambassador William Brownfield was pounded and pelted.
"We're being attacked by groups of motorcyclists while we're traveling in an embassy car," Penn told The Associated Press by cell phone shortly before the motorcycles stopped chasing the four-car convoy.
"It's a very violent demonstration by a small group of people who appear to be organized by the mayor's office," Penn said.

The President and Rice should condemn this action in the harshest terms. He should even appear mad and say that its unacceptable and should not continue.!....zzzzz
This time it was eggs and fruit; Chavez is giving them all assault rifles.
Okay, lets get the ambassador and his staff out of there and tell CITGO we won't buy any more oil from Venezuela. They tell the EPA to shove off and start drilling for our own oil in ANWAR and off our shores, and inside America. I'm not babbling, tell Chavez he can GO TO #$%%.
I don't think most of them want the assault weapons, but unless we make it very clear that this is "not a good thing," many Venezuelans are going to be deluded into/forced to going along with Hugo's nonsense.
I have been watching this happening for several years now (I'm a Spanish translator and often translate documents from Latin America) and our response has been underwhelming, to say the least. And this has left the ordinary folk in these countries to be fresh meat for the current and arising dictators. Wake up, Condi.
A staged event.. Hugo NEEDS a SEVERE "talk to the hand" attitude.. Put ANYTHING remotely American out that place..
