How would you deport every single illegal? You can't and you know it.We deported Nazi Germany from Western Europe. I don't recall the whiners saying it couldn't be done back then.
And the Nazis were armed and trained soldiers.
But beyond that, we need to set up a multi-tiered approach that addresses border security, business enforcement, denial of government benefits to illegals, assistance to those willing to voluntarily deport themselves and ICE unleashed upon those who won't.
No one approach will work by itself. But combined they can. But the one thing we CANNOT do is repeat the mistakes of the Reagan amnesty - which Bush wishes to do.

I applaud our President for taking on this tough issue which wins him no brownie points from anyone just like he tried to do with Social Security. You applaud him for creating a lose-lose situation for America?
You applaud him for giving Democrats ground they have no business gaining?
You applaud him for vetoing the will of the overwhelming majority of the members of his own party?
You applaud him for making a mockery of American sovereignty and the rule of law?

He kept the same modest house after so many years in Congress. He kept his ears open to his constituents always. He lived, ate, shopped and worked among his voters. The rest of the Senators tend to live in a bubble.
WE NEED TO BUST THEIR BUBBLES NEXT ELECTION. STAY ANGRY, DON'T FORGET THIS DAY AND THE INSULTS. THINK WHAT KIND OF FUTURE YOUR CHILDREN WILL HAVE NOW THANKS TO THE COCKROACHES ON THE HILL.>

Both McCain and Kennedy are on board.

Then it can't be good for America,

"Oh, no if you do that then Hillary we get elected. We have bend over and compromise every bit of integrity we have if our party is going to survive as a viable entity".
It's not about the Party, it's about the Country! To *!%# with the Republicans if they sell us out. Time for another revolution perhaps?

We have spent far too much time and energy watching them when, based on this betrayal, we should have been watching our own.
Our war is now with our own party.
At this point, there's not much difference between them and us. (Excluding Tancredo, Sensenbrenner, etc.)

I hope the House holds firm, but I don't see it either. I also voted for Reagan the first time I was able to vote, and have been a loyal Republican voter up and down the ticket since 1980. That will end if amnesty in any form passes. I've had enough. Today, I'm ashamed to be a Republican, and I never thought I'd say that.

It occurred to me this morning that we hear "No War for Oil" how about "No Illegals for Oil?"
Is oil production from Mexico the root of this bill? Is Fox threatening us, behind the scenes, with higher oil prices if we send his people back to Mexico?

Do we risk handing seats to Democrats to teach our Republican representatives a lesson not to ignore the will of the people on immigration?
Yes. We still have Bush as president, and the presidential election is 2 years after the November election. Right now control of congress is somewhat expendable. In normal circumstances, it wouldn't be, but these circumstances are hardly normal. Make them feel pain this november. Then, in nov 08, they will have hopefully let the lesson sink in, and we can get some real republicans running for congress and get Mike Pence running for president.

...tax boycotts... An income tax boycott is the one thing that would really get the attention of the slugs in DC, but whoever tried to organize one would get the (perhaps unofficial) death penalty. The one thing the Evil Overlords won't tolerate is any tampering with the spoils system they have set up.

Which must make those who spent all their time and money to come here legally just jump up and cheer. /sarc I understand your feelings, but I also understand reality.
There are perks to being a US neighbor.
If Hungary was located south of the Rio Grande River, most illegals would be Hungarians.
And if Mexico were a landlocked country in central Europe, then Mexicans would have to wait a long time to get into the US.
To: STARWISE
What are they going to do to the illegals who chose to remain illegal?

I'm seriously considering switching to Unenrolled. How about reforming the Bull Moose Party?
