A fatwa issued by Egypt’s top religious authority, which forbids the display of statues has art-lovers fearing it, could be used by Islamic extremists as an excuse to destroy Egypt’s historical heritage.
Egypt’s Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, the country’s top Islamic jurist, issued the religious edict which declared as un-Islamic the exhibition of statues in homes, basing the decision on texts in the hadith (sayings of the prophet).
Many fear the edict could prod Islamic fundamentalists to attack Egypt’s thousands of ancient and pharaonic statues on show at tourist sites across the country.
“We don’t rule out that someone will enter the Karnak temple in Luxor or any other pharaonic temple and blow it up on the basis of the fatwa,” Gamal al-Ghitani, editor of the literary Akhbar al-Adab magazine, told AFP.

I dont claim to know anything about Islam except each day they seem to come up with something more stupid than the day before. Now: Here is my question. The Islamic religion is pretty old. So is Egypt. So is the Muslim presence in Egypt and other countries. How come none of the previous Mullahs came up with this statue BS? What makes this recent pack of clowns think they know more than their predescessers.
This should put the brakes on all the guilt-ridden museums in the west sending back their 'stolen' artifacts to Egypt.

They have no central authority over their religion. They have uneducated, inbread hillbillies spaning one side of the globe to the other who read the Koran a couple times, declare them selves clerics, and start releasing religious edicts any time they like with no central authority to answer to, guide them, or even certify them that they are qualified to do their duties.
Hell even Osama Bin Laden annouced fartwas in Afganistan that many islamics considered legit. It was only after 9/11, that some of the high ranking islamic scholars starting saying, "Osama may not have the authority to be releasing fartwas".
what about those pillars and walls they have there that is supposed to represent the devil. The ones they throw stones at. Doesn't that sound like idol worshiping to you????
