Students were warned about the policy Friday and several were suspended
I'm speechless.

My senior year in high school (1988) I refused to say the national anthem because I came during a class with a teacher that refused to display the flag. In my opinion you face the flag and make the pledge.
She told me to solve the problem without a perminant mark on the classroom.
I began wearing my EF-111 flight jacket (all correct patches)to class (she despised that).
I would pull some velcro wall decoration off and apply the american flag in its place and say the pledge. Did I mention that I had my entire class supporting me.
Oh, and by the way it was a Government/Economics class.

Skyline High School students rally across the street from the school on Friday after U.S. flags were banned on the campus in Longmont, Colo. These kids are flying the flag of their nation. Now, this is a "crime."
Unbelievable.
"When it involves the American flag and its abuse in vilifying other people, we simply will not tolerate it," Stumpf said. "They were using the symbol derisively as misguided patriotism."

"I live in a small farm town in Nelson County, Virginia, and will retire from the Virginia Army National Guard in April 2006, after 22 years. I have spent almost one half of my adult life preparing myself and my soldiers for a time, such as now, that our country might successfully face our enemies, foreign and domestic.
Looking at your webpage this morning and seeing the pictures of the high school students raising a Mexican national flag over an upside down American flag saddened me terribly, insofar as there are American soldiers, Marines, sailors, and airmen currently putting their lives in danger in order to provide these "citizens" the comfort of knowing that their protests will not result in being lined up against a wall and executed for their behavior, as they might in other countries around the world.
What would be interesting to know is if these young men and women are enjoying their educations on the back of the American taxpayer at a public school, while denigrating the country that provides these benefits to them, and so blatantly desecrating the flag that serves as a beacon to draw them to America in the first place."

What is going on in this country? What really surprises me is all this illegal immigrant problems, gas price problems, and anti-american feelings are taking place with Republicans in full control of the executive and legislative branches.

this kid who organized a rally said his CA school tried to interfere with his right to organize a patriotic USA meeting on school property while giving time to the school's racist MECHA club, they confiscated his flags then suspended him and threatened to have him arrested for trying to organize on his own time, off campus .
While in the meantime, kids in CA by the thousands were allowed hold pro Mexico National rallies on campus, with Mexican flags and were allowed to walk off campus, greeted by mayors and were provided bus transportation by the schools, all on taxpayers money!!!!
Folks it is a sorry day when our kids can can be penalized and threatened with arrest for being patriotic and loyal to the laws and sovereignty of the USA.

I am absolutely sickened by this.
I have an ever increasing and horrible fear that it has gone so far now, that nothing but violence will turn it around and we may soon see blood in the streets.
I pray to God that I'm wrong. But it wouldn't exactly be historically unprecedented for our country.
Here's hoping you're all well stocked.

Okay, so lemme check the score here. This week we've seen:
(1) Illegal aliens waving their Mexican flags on streets around the country, in open defiance of American immigration laws.
(2) Congress bending over in all out efforts to avoid offending people who might or might not be offended over Enforcing The Law and curbing this offense to law-abiding citizens from all countries.... why? Because these people might vote for somebody else.
(3) Law-abiding and patriotic CHILDREN are being suspended, thrown out of classes, and told to stop their use of the First and probably Tenth amendments of the Constitution of their homeland for the supposed crime of respecting the symbols of their country.
If I didn't have flag shirts for my kids in that district, I think I'd find a few real quick. Go for it kids - this is an early battle in a war that we may have to fight for years.

Flying OUR flag in OUR country is inflamatory? Do these public school morons ever think any action out? Good grief - liberalism IS a mental disorder!

A proper resolution to this situation would be for the governor of Colorado to send armed National Guardsmen to this school complete with Hummers and M-16s to restore the display of Old Glory on the school's flagpole. It's that important, and such an object lesson would be a good way to educate the school's students on the matter.
Oh, and fire the adminweasel. Tomorrow.
