Genre: Son |
Artist: Rey Ruiz |
Song Title: Asi Se Compone Un Son |
Translation: This Is How To Write A "Son." ( Pronunciation: sewn ) |
General Theme: This is how to write a "Son." You need a motive, a theme, something constructive, also inspiration and Cuban feelings. ( The "Son" is the predecessor to all of the Afro-Cuban rhythms such as the rumba, mambo, cha-cha-cha, guaguanco and salsa. ) |
Side Note: Rey Ruiz did this song as a tribute to the original singer, who was Ismael Miranda. The orchestration is much more "polished" in this version and is much better although I like the original simply because it is the original. The original version is more "get down," "street" music. |
Additional: I won't be translating whole songs. I just don't have the time. Support the artists you hear in the Canteen. Buy their music! |

Exactly. We take what we can get.:)
No, I haven't started cooking anything special; I'll probably wait until he's here and see what he's in the mood for.
But I'll be sure to have plenty of his favorite snacks, beverages etc. on hand.

Duke! That looks like a Hoover??!!!Connie! That is a Hoover!!! (The original Hoover Constellation, circa 1952---as it happens, I grew up with one: my grandmother had one, and I never minded as a kid when she asked me to clean up for her with it...that cleaner was fun! Who wouldn't want to do a chore with something looking like Saturn when you were a kid?)

We sure do. It's been 2 years since his Dad has seen him. I went to see them last April, but hubby couldn't get away at the time. Then their Christmas visit was cancelled.
I guess I'd better get some stuff, too. He's doing the Adkins Diet, so it's hard to pick stuff he can have. LOL!
