Vicente Fox: U.S. Will 'Beg' for Mexican Workers
NewsMax.com ^ | March 30, 2006 | Carl Limbacher

Mexican President Vicente Fox is defending earlier comments where he insisted that the U.S. will soon be "begging" Mexico to send workers to alleviate a coming U.S. labor shortage.

"I dare say that in 10 years, the U.S. will be begging, will be pleading with Mexico to send it workers," said Fox, who meets with President Bush in Cancun today to discuss what he calls the "migration" problem.

In his March 3 remarks to the BBC, Fox warned that the U.S. had better take advantage of the Mexican labor pool while it has the chance, because when America starts begging for Mexican workers, "Mexico won't do it because it will have its people employed [here at home]."

In an interview Wednesday night, Fox said he stood by his comments.

"Let's put it this way," he told MSNBC's Rita Cosby. "[The] U.S. economy will need additional labor than what they have, because population growth in United States is not growing."

Fox said he foresaw the day when his country's excess labor pool would dry up.

"Mexico will level off it's population by year 2030," he explained. "Mexico will never pass 130 - 135 million people and then it will level-off so we won't have that kind of energy that youth, but more so, we will need them here in Mexico to sustain our retirement, pension families which will be many."

For the time being, however, the Mexican leader said he remained opposed to U.S. proposals that would crack down on workers who leave Mexico and enter the U.S. illegally.

Asked about U.S. plans to build a border fence, Fox told Cosby: "I don't think building a wall or try to take that kind of measure will help the issue. I think we both have the capacity . . . give migration a legal form, an ordered flow and a full respect to human rights of everybody."

He also opposes plans to station the U.S. military along the Mexican border, saying:

"No, it's not the way to solve it."

Instead he credited illegal Mexican shoppers with keeping malls along the border in business.

"Right there in the border, there is one million persons, people crossing every day . . . The way they cross to consume on the U.S. side, this incredible amount of big shopping centers in the border on the U.S. side, it's Mexican consumption makes them successful."

I think there must be some major disconnect with Latin-American politicians. It seems like they're all a little fruity.

Beg for workers?

No, what Americans do is innovate and become more efficient.

Wishful thinking on the issue, or a liberal viewpoint!
If we were able (and that's also wishful thinking) to keep them all south of the border, THEY would stay in line begging US to be chosen for labor work here!!

The best Fox can come up with is a labor embargo?

Mother in law: "You'll miss me when I'm gone."

(Unspoken thot: 'How can we miss you if you won't leave.')

LA stadium, world soccer semi-finals, 2019: "Damas y caballeros, eef chu weel levantase, por favor, for the Anthem of our beloved homeland, that we never visit seence eet is such a hole of mentira . .".
(Crowd stops scuffling long enough to get out the first 3 words of Mehican anthem nacional:* then a bullfight breaks out.)

With a "guest worker" program, I don't doubt it at all.

Here's the deal: the Mexican government gets veto power over U.S. immigration policy, and the US loses sovereignty.

How do we know?

In the Mexican Congress, it was recently announced that a document would be drafted, to show support for the protest marches in our country.

The Mexican government published advertisements in leading American newspapers calling for the legalization of illegal immigrants (those in the United States, not in Mexico) and "a far-reaching guest workers scheme." Not only that, said the ads, but "in order for a US guest workers program to be viable, Mexico should participate in its design, management, supervision and evaluation."

In other words, the Mexican government wants veto power over U.S. immigration policy.

And they might just get it. Outrageously, many in our own government are only too happy to oblige them.

Ruben Aguilar, spokesman for President Vicente Fox, made this statement to support the marches: "The recent protests carried out in different places in the United States are indicative of the imminent necessity of a migratory accord that corresponds to the interests of both countries, and that especially to the defense of the rights of migrants. The government of the (Mexican) Republic ratifies its commitment to the Mexicans who live in the United States and its intention to work in the defense of their rights ..."

None of this is surprising. The protestors--carrying Mexican flags---and the Mexican government share the same goals: legalize Mexican illegal aliens and keep the borders open.

The Mexican government wins b/c they see it as a way to relieve economic pressure on their government to reform the economy.

Mexico's leaders also work to retain the loyalty of the immigrant mobs so that, even if they become American citizens, they retain their loyalty to Mexico.

And the plan is working thanks to the dupes in the US Congress.

We won't beg. We will have a mechanism for:

1) SEALING THE BORDER: Bush's plan list this as the Number 1 item. He's done more to accomplish it than previous presidents. This new plan will amplify it.

2) Addressing those already present, fining them for their crime and forcing strict constraints on them in the future.

People, this is excellent. Item #1 is the top priority, listed first in Bush's plan, and funded. It has a very powerful impact on the whole affair. Illegals Can't Go Home. Think what this means to families. If a relative dies in Mexico, they attend the funeral and cannot return without jumping through all the very strict hoops.

The sheer power of that #1 focus attacks the problem vigorously.

Item #2 addresses the most profound issue of our time: Demographics. The ageing of the US population inexorably eliminates enough working age people from the population. "Illegals do jobs others won't do" is a false premise, but not for the reason most believe. It is false because what it should say is "workers about to be forced to pay for their crime will do the work that there are no people available to do otherwise".

This is a fundamental truth. We won't beg for Mexican workers. They'll beg to come here. The Bush Plan will funnel them into the proper paths for doing so and the US will triumph by having working age people when Europe does not.

Demographics are very powerful.

All illegals offered system to register. They then can register, go home or break the law. Their choice. Failure to register felony/jail-time/expulsion.

Those who resister allowed to stay and work for 5 years then they have to go back to country of origin and get in line to come back in a legal manner if they desire to do so.

At the same time, force employers in the target industries to pay fair market wages that offer no advantage to the hiring of illegals. This would eliminate the
argument that the Mexicans are doing jobs that American won't do because of low wages. (We need to experience what the real cost of our lifestyle is)

Prosecute employers who continue to employ unregistered illegals or pay under the designated wage.

No instate tuition for illegals.

And lastly, force the unemployed folks who are too good to work for "coolie wages" to get off their asses. No food, no welfare no nothing unless they work. If they
work, subsidize with child care, educational subsidies etc.

Build a barrier.

A thought - how Mexican workers in demand be bad? Isn't that what Mexico wants - a happy, well-paid labor pool that is in demand at home and abroad?

Unfortunately, I really don't think that is what the patrons of Mexico want. Rather, the elitist of Mexico want the "little guy" to be happy carrying their economy on their backs across the border so the patrons don't have to do a damn thing but rule from on high. As long as the "little guy" isn't at home, he can't bother them.

And as far as the U.S. birthrate is concerned, that is simply not true. Even when one subtracts illegal populations, our birth rate in the U.S. is healthy and above replacement level.

http://www.prcdc.org/summaries/uspopperspec/uspopperspec.html

Africa-American birthrates are above the replacement rate at 2.2 percent; the percentage of non-white Hispanic of childbearing age having children is a healthy 1.8 percent, just 14% below the replacement rate. (That demographic may be pushed upward soon by the more child-friendly younger generation as they replace the more childless Baby Boomers.) This is not even including the legal populations of American Hispanics, who rightly should be included by virtue of the fact that many have been citizens for generations. When their numbers are included, the birthrate for the U.S. population stands at a very respectable 2.0.

The U.S. doesn't have a population problem. Mexico has a patron problem, and perhaps they need to get rid of some of those. Anyone who cares about these people should be able to see that a well-paid, in demand labor pool is the GOAL.

What a supremely lame reason from a supremely lame person. If Fox can solve Mexico's problems THEN he better jump to it and leave the United States to solve its own problems. I dare say get off your ass, Vicente.

I'm fuming mad over this illegal alien issue and ready to finish the Mexican-American war...taking the rest of Mexico! Then, and only then, would the issue be resolved. Permanently!

I thought it was the worst economy since Hoover. Everyone out of work? How can we possibly have a labor shortage? Actually sounds like a time to cut down on Welfare and Medicaid funding and force people to get jobs.

Why not?

Aside from illegal narcotics, and oil, the only thing that country exports is human beings.

I dare say within 2 years of us securing our border Mexico will be in a state of revolucion as the peasants attempt, once again, to overthrow their feudal lords.

Bush needs to remind Fox that he is nothing more than some petty Third World wannabe dictator and that we can crush his POS cesspool of a country any time we want.
