House Majority Leader John A. Boehner refused yesterday to rule out compromising with the Senate to expand the House border security bill to include a guest-worker program or provisions that opponents call "amnesty." "Let's wait and see what the Senate can produce," he told reporters yesterday when asked whether House Republicans would reject the Senate Judiciary Committee's proposal to allow the estimated 12 million illegal aliens now in the U.S. to seek citizenship after paying a fine.

With all due respect, they can keep the job.
It is past time to impeach and remove this president.
Wow. I didn't know Russ Feingold was a freeper!
How ya doin' Rusty?? Is it warming up in Wisconsin yet? Are the other socialists up there going to sign up for Free Republic too?
This is getting tiresome. In my new MOD role, please pay attention! This is an OFFICIAL unofficial final warning!
This is very interesting. Thanks for posting it.
Lol.
Shall it be assumed to be the classic signs of eating too many lead paint chips as a child?
The symptoms are definitely evident after perusing several of the afflicted's posts on this thread.
However, they have a prime minister who refused to be demagogued into making concessions that would have unraveled the fabric of his nation, and stood firm against these aliens that wanted to invade and subvert Australian culture.
I realize that some Australians have their own complaints about Howard and the governing Liberal Party-many of them mirroring our own expressions of disgust with some of the misguided policies implemented by the Republicans in power here-but on this one issue I would love to switch places with them.
Thanks!
Are you claiming that Bush hasn't been an obstacle to border security (that's first) and secondly that Bush is not involved in the formulation of the North American Union?
We tried amnesty back in 1986, and in 20/20 hindsight, it didn't work. It didn't work because people like Ted Kennedy gutted the employer sanctions short term, while subsequent administrations didn't enforce the sanctions and didn't properly fund the Border Patrol agency, in the long term. If Bush41, Clinton and Bush43 had enforced the employer sanctions and funded the PB properly, we wouldn't have the overwhelming problems we have with illegal immigration today.
---If they vote for anything resembling the Senate bill the Republicans can kiss power goodbye.
Yeah, let's get the Dems in there, and considering how hard it is to get someone OUT of Congress once they're in there, a good decade or two of them in power will really show the Republicans how it's done. I can just see the illegals being kicked out left and right under Hillary, Teddy, Kerry...---
As I said to someone else that replied in a similar vain, save your breath for our leadership. Your time would be better spent trying to persuade them to uphold the law than persuading all of us to suck up.
By the way, you once again did not ping me. I'm afraid you will now receive my first official banning as a newly promoted mod! (Not that you won't simply yet again come here under another screen name.)"
Mr/Ms. Coop,
Mr. Broham has thoroughly cleaned your clock on this thread.
Toss the white towel in before you get pounded further.
If facts matter to you, you'll stop saying that sort of thing.
DHS Announces CBP Border Patrol Agent Deployment Schedule
Washington, D.C. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff announced today the fiscal year 2006 U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Border Patrol agent deployment schedule. In a significant increase in personnel, an additional 1,700 CBP Border Patrol agents will be assigned to the southwest border. http://www.customs.ustreas.gov/xp/cgov/newsroom/press_releases/archives/2005_press_releases/0122005/12072005.xml
Apparently you needed a sarcasm tag.
---The only thing they can do is find a compromise that keeps the new penalties in place, but allows those already in the country to apply for guest worker status. Anyone who cannot see that is either blind, a moron, or so stuck on thier position that they don't give a damn about keeping control of anything.---
I'm liking your side of this debate less and less.
Kool-aid break. Watch my back, will ya?
I have never once seen either of those terms used by anyone who opposes illegal immigration at FR. You are the only race-obsessed one here.
First you play the race card, then you insult my intelligence, and now you're calling into question my integrity?
You're a real class act, you know that?
Oh. But, it was just so ... realistic, lol.
Sorry, Cboldt.
