Both R's and D's have their open borders components.
The real split is between the elites of both parties and normal people.
Until one party or the other can bring it's coalition together on an approach that is acceptable to voters, it's going to be more of the same-ol-same-ol. All that will pass until then are meaningless measures designed to convince voters something is happening while making sure everything stays as-is.
Not true it matters greatly which party is in power. In fact it is of critical importance.
Complainers about the GOP not doing what They want are under the misimpression that they are dictators rather than representatives which represent a bare majority. Also it is widely misunderstood that this nation is conservative. It is not. Nor will it be conservative until control over the educational system and Media are wrested from the Leftists. We are not even close to establishing the prerequisites for conservativism.
It will take decades of GOP being in power to remove the destructive influences put in place by the Party of Treason. Should it take power once again all progress in the Courts, the tax codes and National Security will be thrown away. And you are willing to surrender and let all that happen.
Illegal immigration is NOWHERE near the problem the hysterical around here claim. It is not even close to being the problem claimed but just a nuisance.

No, but cutting out a cancer is. John McCain, Arlen Specter, Lindsey Graham all need to be voted out, even against a Democrat. At least when a Democrat is in power, they will screw up so much that people will demand they be thrown out. No one notices the RINOs when they are wrong.
I intend to vote out any local GOP traitors I can. If the Democrats come into power for it, so be it. At least then the sides will be clear.

I understand horse trading, but no horse trader worth his salt will trade for a horse worse than the one he is trading off. The majority of the plans will not only not fix the problems, they would make them worse. To compromise you must be fairly close on the disputed issues, that is not the case here. One side cannot compromise when the other side is not willing to. Those opposed to the plans to deal with illegals would be more likely to compromise if the border is secured first.
We have to really secure the border from new illegal crossers, then begin to enforce the laws we have now regarding illegals. Then a guest worker plan or something similiar could be worked out if we need workers from another country.
Don't think any of those are up for re-election.

Illegal aliens can't "LEGALLY" vote in US elections. They can't legally cross the border either- do you notice that stopping them?

Anyway, it doesn't matter when they're up for re-election. It only matters that our Republican majority has it's arms tied because of cancerous rinos, including the President. I voted for him because John Kerry could not be trusted as Commander-In-Chief. But I will not vote for another compassionate conservative.
When churches are feeding and housing Illegals and cities proclaim themselves sanctuary please don't pretend this is a problem which every one agrees about.
Ordinary everyday people are hiring Illegals as housecleaners, babysitters, lawn care, construction. It is not BIG corporations but the little guys.

A half million foreign nationals, here illegally, take to the streets with foreign flags (in just one city) to protest our legislative process and you call that a nuisance? I do see the logic; Kerry characterised terrorism as a "nuisance." And why wouldn't he? there were only 19 of them.
I have never proposed an enforcement only policy. I do live here and do understand that if we don't get control of the chaos we have now before we implement any new programs we will never be able to control the border.
What many don't understand is the illegals here now do not want a guest worker program. They will not participate in one in large enough numbers to make any difference. A major fence/barrier is a must to stop the incoming flood- then a solution will have to be reached about the illegals here now.
Illegals here now either want citizenship or some want us to just give them the land and get out. We need to enforce current law just to locate and determine what to do with illegals here now. Some are criminals and welfare leeches and they need to be deported. Those who are here to claim this part of the country for Mexico need to be deported.
The solution to the worker issue is one that I might be willing to compromise on, but I think those who stayed in their own country and tried to come in legally instead of breaking our laws to come here should get first chance at the jobs here.
First of all those that cross the border illegally have to get some sort of false documents in order to work at any decent job. They use the same false documents to register to vote. The other issue is most states do not require you to show any identification at the polls, where I live you don't even show your voter registration card. You could easily walk up and sign in under any name that hasn't been marked as voted and vote. That's how easy it is to commit fraud in my state.
Committing voter fraud in my state is as easy as crossing the border is. It seems odd to me that some of the states with the most lax voter regulations are the border states.
Don't ever think for a moment illegals don't vote, if they want to- they do. It really is that simple.
