We are not a "nation of immigrants." This is both a factual error and a warm-and-fuzzy non sequitur. Eighty-five percent of the residents currently in the United States were born here. Sure, we are almost all descendants of immigrants. But we are not a "nation of immigrants."
(Isnt it funny, by the way, how the politically correct multiculturalists who claim we are a nation of immigrants are sooo insensitive toward Native American Indians, Native Alaskans, Native Hawaiians, and descendants of black slaves who did not immigrate here in any common sense of the word?)
Even if we were a nation of immigrants, it does not explain why we should be against sensible immigration control.

From what I can tell most of the marchers could be arrested for illegally being in the country.
Where was the ICE folks.

"Where oh Where are the Americans on the march"
By the time Americans wake up, it will be too late.
Where oh where is ICE and the Nat'l Guard?
"Where was the ICE folks"
I was thinking the same thing.
I also think that we should put a stop to the $15b in remittances to Mexico. All that does is get us more poor Mexicans.
Invasion is now a civil right, as long as the invaders aren't white. If the entire Chinese Communist Army were to come onshore they could claim that any attempt to prevent them would be "racist".
And of course, they could claim that their weapons are covered by the Second Amendment.
QED: Invasion of the U.S. is a Constitutional Right.
As long as you buy the notion that the Constitution extends to every person on the planet.
Bush's fault, literally. His second-term is circling the drain over this issue.
The illegal aliens and the criminals who hire them and the criminals who harbor them are getting out in the street making their desires known. It is way past time those of us who support the rule of law and secure borders did the same.
Join Veterans for Secure Borders, The Minuteman Project, Latino Americans for Immigration Reform, Mothers Against Illegal Aliens, and other groups protesting amnesty for these criminals, and demanding the government protect our borders.

FReepers should be at this rally in strength. Saturday, May 6, in Crawford, TX.
Where was the ICE folks.
I see that Mort Kondracke has a new word. He's calling us "Restrictionists" LOL
We are living in Orwellian times. Some animals are more equal than others.
The first blow against this regime of lies is to tell the truth, every day, without fear.
So... now we can be nativist racist xenophobic Restrictionists.
I hope the quislings can master that mouthful.
We are not a nation of immigrants. We are first and foremost a nation of laws. The U.S. Constitution does not say that the paramount duty of government is to Celebrate Diversity or to embrace multiculturalism or to give every willing worker in the world a job. The Premable to the U.S. Constitution says the Constitution was established to provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty.
As the son of immigrants and the husband of another immigrant, I have a lot of sympathy for the struggles of all immigrants to this country and a deep appreciation of the opportunities this country has given to me and my family.
But I will not abide the entitlement attitude of so many illegal immigrants who demand all of the benefits of citizenship (schooling, welfare, and public medical care) while breaking the law every day they are here.
My father's family waited 2 years for permission to emigrate and my wife waited almost a year in Germany after applying for political asylum. These were people who left their original homes with little more than the clothes on their backs and whatever they could carry.
To see the President talking about an amnesty program as a reward for the arrogance of current illegals makes me want to puke.
"Where oh Where are the Americans on the march"
Where oh where are President Bush and Congress?
