Well, the Church never did recognise your fraudulent posturing as a pemanent deacon either, did it?. But, there again, you would probably have gotten away with it in the archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Nor do many Catholics recognize what the Los Angeles diocese does in their worship, which is not always in communtion with Rome!

Re. the chapel he constructed, and how he chooses to worship. How one communes with the Lord only has to be 'recognized' by God.
I attend Latin mass, which is not 'recognized' by the Church I grew up in either. Doesn't bother me a bit. I figure if the Lord heard us in Latin for thousands of years, he won't mind hearing it now. He doesn't mind prayer in Swahili, or Togo, or aborigine either, I would wager.
