Hillary raises $20m for a run at the White House

She has yet to declare that she will run, but in the race for the White House in 2008, Hillary Clinton is already gazing down at her nearest challengers from the peak of a mountain of money.

The former First Lady and senator for New York has so far raised more than any other potential Democratic presidential candidate, with a war chest stuffed with almost $20 million (£11.4 million).

Her fund-raising skills seem certain to guarantee that Mrs Clinton will have at least $100 million in the bank by the end of next year.

That figure is crucial, with the head of the Federal Election Commission, Michael Toner, saying that the sum was the minimum "entry fee" for any serious election campaign. Officially, Mrs Clinton has her eyes on just one election, the defence of her senate seat in New York State this autumn. But few doubt she will attempt to become the second Clinton to capture the White House when President Bush steps down in two years' time.

IF she gets the Dem nomination for 2008, her LOSS won't have been for the lack of money.

After reading the post about Clinton's mob connections, it's really scary to think of the corruption that will continue with her as president. It will ruin our country.

Personally, I don't believe that she can become President.

She is far too polarizing.

New York is not representative of modern America.

New York is not representative of modern America.

The $20 mil and any other fund raising efforts are just to make her look a regular candidate. She will have unlimited funds at her disposal when it counts from all around the world. The Clinton's have always had funds that seem to show up on the books after the election - a simple apology, a fine and all is forgiven. Hillary will win if she runs. The Repubs have both houses of Congress and the White House and are nearly powerless.

Just who gives her this money? And what are they buying?

Question:

Are the elites running Hillary to scare the public into electing McCain, or backing McCain to scare the public into voting for Hillary?

Steinbrenner has spent close to a billion dollars in the past 5 years trying to "buy" a Championship Yankees team...Money doesn't always bring you the covetted prize!
