Perhaps, but Ronald Reagan, and Donald Trump have both preached the axiom "Always trust your gut", I'm sure that others of varying political philosophies have followed that same advise. Do you think both of them would say to go with your gut even when the evidence says otherwise?

I know Trump would, he even said so in his first book. No matter how much evidence there was to the contrary, if it didn't feel right for any reason or no reason at all he would opt out.
Hence the term 'Always trust your gut'

I'd give it about 50/50 but I concede no statistical evidence to support it, it's just a gut feeling.
