Bomb squad detonates suspicious package in Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - A police bomb squad has detonated a suspicious package found outside the Mecklenburg County Jail this morning.
Morning traffic backed up while some streets downtown in Charlotte were blocked for a period while the package was examined.
There is no word on what was in the package.
The incident comes on the morning that President Bush is scheduled to visit Charlotte to give a speech about terrorism.
