Threat Matrix: Daily Terror Threat - Thread Thirty-Five

:::FreeRepublic's Threat Matrix:::
Unrest in Pakistan Setback for Terror War
(Full Story)

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan -- A week of unprecedented urban fighting in the wild tribal belt of North Waziristan has left scores dead and forced thousands to flee their homes, raising the stakes in Pakistan's war on Islamic militancy along the Afghan border.

A jumbled alliance of foreign militants, local tribesmen and Islamic students eager for jihad have stepped up resistance in a region where the army already claims to have wiped out al-Qaida as a viable fighting force.

The unrest, brewing for months, is a setback to the U.S.-led war on terror. Further hampering that effort are deteriorating relations between Pakistan and Afghanistan over Afghan claims that Taliban leader Mullah Omar is hiding in Pakistan and suicide bombers are training here.

our local State Senator was on the radio yesterday and HE is pi$$ed, asked Napolitano to have national guard on the scene to help keep order since this is to be a huge turn out and she said no, the police can handle it -- all while the police are telling the state representative they are very worried about keeping control over the crowds AND policing the city.

The failure of H.R. 4437 in the Senate, must lie at the feet of RINO Coyotes Arlen Specter (R-PA), Mike DeWine (R-OH), Lindsey Graham (R-SC), Brownback (R-KS). They should have voted for it to be debated on the Senate Floor. The Bill will now return back to the Senate Judiciary Committee for more discussion. The four RINO idiots can redeem themselves. However, any money I donate to the GOP, will stipulate these four don't get a dime. Their going to have to earn it!

At times, Specter and Graham show flash's of brilliance, and at other times, such as in H.R. 4437. their heads are hidden in an unspeakable place.

Any Republican, such as Sen. John McInsane (R-AZ) that teamed up with Ted Kennedy (D-MA), for immigration reform deserves to be committed to the scrap heap. Ted Kennedy lied to and screwed America in 1986 with a supposedly one time amnesty for illegals, and is hell bent on doing it again. Clearly, McCain has committed political suicide for any presidential bid. I can't believe any politician would ever want to stand within twenty foot of, let alone on the same podium with Chappaquiddick Ted!

No

Algeria: Jihadists shouting "Allahu akbar" murder 13 customs agents

After Ibrahim Hooper finishes his mission in Baghdad, he will need to book a flight to Algiers, in order to explain to these mujahedin that murder does not demonstrate the greatness of God.

Of course, as far as I know, Hooper (the spokesman for the Council on American Islamic Relations) is not going to Baghdad or Algiers. But stories like this, which we have documented in abundance here since the site began in October 2003, demonstrate that his loud protestations that Islam is a religion of peace and only bigots think otherwise are hollow: he may find it easy to convince Western non-Muslims that Islam is peaceful, but let's see him try to convince the mujahedin of Iraq or Algeria or anywhere else.

"Gunmen kill 13 customs agents," from Agence France-Presse, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

SUSPECTED Algerian Islamist militants shouting "God is Greatest" killed 13 customs agents in the north African oil producer's southern desert, a customs official said.
The official, who declined to be identified, confirmed media reports today that said the 13 were killed, and 10 wounded, in an ambush yesterday on a party of customs officials travelling in a convoy of all terrain vehicles 200 km from the country's biggest oil producing town of Hassi Messaoud.

One agent was also reported missing after the ambush in the southern province of Ghardaia, some 700 km southeast of the capital Algiers, state radio said.

It was the worst attack by suspected Islamist militants since the launch of an amnesty for rebels aimed at ending more than a decade of conflict in the OPEC oil-exporting country.

Those killed included senior customs officials including the regional director of the national customs service, Abdelkrim Khebouza.

Customs officials play a key role in security in the south, where groups of Islamist gunmen are believed to maintain links with bandits who run cross-border smuggling networks across Africa's Sahel region.

Independent newspaper El Watan said the assailants were chanting "God is Greatest" during the attack on the agents who were heading for the oil area of Ouargla to attend a seminar.

Tamil Tigers outlawed -- Group added to Canada's terror list
National Post ^ | 2006-04-08 | Stewart Bell

Posted on 04/08/2006 6:50:49 AM PDT by Clive

TORONTO - The Tamil Tigers have been added to Canada's list of outlawed terrorist organizations, the National Post has learned.

The designation was to be finalized yesterday, a day after Cabinet met to accept a recommendation from the Canadian Security Intelligence Service.

An official announcement was scheduled for Monday.

The Tigers are the 39th terrorist group to be outlawed under the Anti-Terrorism Act, and the first added to the list by the new Conservative government.

The move was spearheaded by Stockwell Day, the Minister of Public Safety, who in opposition repeatedly condemned the Liberals for not outlawing the Tigers.

The decision means it will now be a criminal offence to participate in the activities of the Tamil Tigers, formally known as the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, or LTTE, a Sri Lankan separatist group responsible for more than 160 suicide bombings. For example, anyone convicted of financially supporting the Tigers could be imprisoned for up to 10 years.

But while the Tigers were placed on the list, the government stopped short of listing any of the terrorist group's Canadian front organizations.

The Cabinet order will likely have implications both at home and abroad. It will criminalize the Tiger "war taxes" that have long been paid -- both voluntarily and involuntarily -- by some Tamil-Canadians. Also, Canada has the world's largest Sri Lankan Tamil diaspora, estimated at 250,000, and the listing could deal a blow to the Tigers, who are heavily dependent on Canadian and other foreign donors.

"It is estimated that between one and two million dollars are raised annually in Canada, making it one of the largest contributors of funds to the LTTE worldwide," according to a classified CSIS report circulated in 2000. "The LTTE has traditionally raised these monies through the use of fronts groups."

The Tigers were formed in the 1980s to fight for an independent homeland for Sri Lanka's ethnic Tamil minority, but the guerrilla group quickly embraced terrorist tactics.

Buses, trains and office buildings were bombed by the LTTE's suicide squad, the Black Tigers. The LTTE is considered one of the world's leading practitioners of suicide terrorism, and has assassinated scores of political opponents, among them the late Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.

Peace talks and a ceasefire have been faltering in recent months, as the idyllic island nation off India's southern tip has tumbled back into ethnic warfare that has already cost more than 60,000 lives.

Last month, Human Rights Watch reported that LTTE supporters had been going door to door in Toronto since late 2005 extorting money from Tamil-Canadians to finance a "final war" for independence.

Although the Tigers are one of the most active terrorist groups in Canada, the Liberals had refused to outlaw their activities, some say because the party was afraid of angering Tamil-Canadian voters in Toronto.

Iraq: Al-Zarqawi groups boasts about killing Christian who "offended Muhammad"

I am confident that Ibrahim Hooper is flying to Baghdad this very minute in order to explain to the Zarqawi group that Islam actually forbids this sort of thing. Islamic Tolerance Alert from Iraq: "Iraq: Al-Zarqawi Group Boasts Killing Christian," from AKI, with thanks to Jeffrey Imm:

Baghdad, 7 April (AKI) The Mujahadeen Council, a leading insurgency group linked to al-Qaeda in Iraq, has announced the killing of a Christian in Mosul "for offending the prophet Mohammed." In a statement posted to the Internet, the group, whose military arm is still headed by Jordanian militant Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, said that on Tuesday it "eliminated" a Christian in Mosul. "We eliminated him, because this impure crusader offended our noble prophet Mohammed. We killed him in the al-Tahir quarter of Mosul" it read.

Belgium to Consider Legalizing Under-18 Euthanasia
LifeSiteNews ^ | 4/7/06 | Gudrun Schultz

Posted on 04/08/2006 12:26:54 PM PDT by wagglebee

BRUSSELS, Belgium, April 7, 2006 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The government of Belgium is considering a proposal to legalize euthanasia for children and youth up to age 18.

The Flemish Socialist party, a member of Belgium’s coalition government, has called for an extension to the country’s euthanasia laws to give teenagers under 18 the right to choose assisted suicide, and parents of younger children the right to “choose” it for them.

Euthanasia was legalized in Belgium in 2002. Under the current law, a patient must be over 18, terminally ill and in constant suffering in order to qualify for euthanasia. The country has considered extending the law to include children ever since the present law was first passed.

Last month the Netherlands announced it would allow the legal euthanasia of babies and children under 12 years. Dutch doctors admitted to the unauthorized killing of infants prior to the legislation; at least 15 babies were killed every year, many of them born with non-fatal genetic disorders.

"Colorado school drops flag ban"
By Valerie Richardson
The Washington Times
Published April 8, 2006

ARTICLE SNIPPET: "DENVER -- Students at Shaw Heights Middle School wore Old Glory on their T-shirts without fear of reprisal yesterday after their principal bowed to community pressure to drop the school's flag ban.

Principal Myla Shepherd canceled the ban late Thursday night after an outcry from parents, students and state leaders, including Colorado Attorney General John Suthers, who said the school rule violated state law."

The term "Coyote Senators," is an excellent name for Specter, Graham, DeWine, Brownback, and your pic, pretty much, and pitifully sums up the story of H.R. 4437! In the present immigration legislation, the tag team of McInsane (control the Internet) and Kennedy have lived up to their billing, of two huge Jackasses.

War tactics could wipe out Central America gangs: police
Reuters ^ | 4/5/2006 | none

Posted on 04/08/2006 1:23:55 PM PDT by HEMICRASHBOX

SAN SALVADOR, El Salvador (Reuters) - Central American governments could wipe out violent street gangs in two months by treating them like opponents in a war, El Salvador's police chief said on Tuesday. The tattooed street mobs, blamed for a rampage of murders, rapes and robberies and also operating in southern Mexico and in the United States, grew out of Hispanic youth gangs in Los Angeles and have around 100,000 members, police say.

"If this were a war and war concepts were applied, the gangs here would be finished in two months," Salvadoran police chief Rodrigo Avila told a local television station.

The gangs are considered to be the No. 1 security threat in Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. Inter-gang warfare often involves beheadings and eye gougings although human rights groups blame some killings on vigilante death squads.

"If this continues at the same rate in the region, the gang members are going to become belligerent groups that are going to endanger stability and national security," Avila said.

Police from the United States, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Dominican Republic are meeting in San Salvador to discuss ways to combat gangs in the region.

Government crackdowns on gang violence, especially in Honduras and El Salvador, pushed gang members to move to other countries, including southern Mexico, which has a porous and easily crossable border.

Many gang members have been thrown in jail and rival gangs often fight and kill each other behind bars. The two best known gangs are the Mara Salvatrucha and the Mara 18.

The UK seems to be full of bedwetting pansies. Guns are banned. Knives are banned. Somehow they have forgotten that inanimate objects only become a problem in the hands of criminals. They are afraid of dealing with criminals, so they demonize inanimate objects.

Another reason why my last vacation to the UK in April 1999 is going to be my last vacation to the UK ever.
