Police: 7 Teens Invaded Homes For 'Adrenaline Rush'
POSTED: 12:09 pm EST March 6, 2006
UPDATED: 4:29 pm EST March 6, 2006
Police in Palm Bay, Fla., arrested seven teens in the last several days wanted in connection with a series of home break-ins that were apparently committed because the group wanted an "adrenaline rush," according to a police report. David Deluna, 18, Matt Rivera, 19, and a 16-year-old were charged with grand theft and burglary charges Monday. Another four suspects were taken into custody and charged on Friday, Local 6 News partner Florida Today reported. "When these three realized that we were looking for them on Friday, they left together and went to the beach," said Jesse Suelter, a Palm Bay detective working on the case. "We arrested one on Saturday and found the other two sleeping at their residences today." Police said the seven teens knew each other from work and school. All came from upper middle class homes but told authorities they carried out the crimes for "an adrenaline rush," Suelter told Florida Today. The teens randomly picked homes to break into during the day and early evening, Suelter said. In one home they stole a gun. In others, cash, electronics and jewelry were taken. He also said the teens would ring doorbells and if they did not get an answer they would kick in the doors. "The suspects were very arrogant and the attitude they had was unbelievable. I explained the possibility that one of them could get hurt or shot. One of them told us that he was a big boy and that 'I think I could take 'em,' " Suelter said.

Imagine the rush they're going to get when they become punks in prison. What a rush!

Concealed carry isntructors adamantly recommend to shoot to kill the kids trying to crawl through the window or enter the door. Then drag them into the house. Umm, I've never encountered an instructor who recommended tampering with the scene like that. Not my CCW intructor, not my NRA instructor, and none of the instructors at the Front Sight 4 day defensive handgun course. If you think a forensics team wouldn't be able to tell you "dragged them inot the house", you may be in for a surprise, and in so doing you've just told the DA that you felt you had something to hide.

Everyone who is eligible to own a gun should buy one and learn how to use it. An ax works too, but not unless you are physically fit, quick, and don't mind the mess.

I highly suggest that you go buy this book. It is one, if not the, best book on FL firearm laws.
What those CCW "instructors" told you is a big line of BS.

That is why you do not limit yourself to only one gun. Mosberg pistol grip shotgun with 6 , 000 buck in bedroom, 44 Mag revolver alongside it.45 1911 with 8 in puter room, along side 22 magnum rifle with 15, living room kitchen with 22lr Ruger pistol with 10. I think I got em covered.

You got that right. Evidence tampering is a felony with possible felony obstruction of justice charges. Same laws here in Texas.

"If you think a forensics team wouldn't be able to tell you "dragged them inot the house", you may be in for a surprise..." You are 100% correct...
...and that's precisely why I strongly advocate training your dogs to drag the body long before an incident like this occurs...;-)

Maybe they would enjoy the adrenaline rush of going into shock after being plugged with a 230gr, .45acp round ripping through their vitals.

With their attitudes, they won't stop until they're killed or in prison for life.

ok, how many folks' preferred home defense weapon has 7 or more rounds loaded right now? guilty
almost no shotguns would, unless you have a USAS-12 or maybe spas-12 (though those have spring issues on the last round). needless to say revolvers are out.
My Remington 1100 will hold 8 in the magazine and one in the pipe, with 7 more on the side saddle. I've seen many 870 pumps and Mossbergs set up the same way.
Revolvers are out?? Give me a break. Not only does S&W make a 7 shot 686 in .357, it's a very popular model.
Personally, I keep a 6 shot King Cobra in the nightstand and my daily carry, a 5 shot snubby, is always close enough to use for a NY reload.
In the overall scheme of things, I suspect that after 2 or 3 of their comrades have fallen, the remainder will be hightailing it out the door.

yeah, but wouldn't it suck to put 2 shots per target in the intruders and still have folks running around your house when you ran out? When dealing with a crowd, everyone gets one helping before anyone gets seconds.

I seriously doubt any competent CCW instructor would advise moving the bodies. The blood trail would raise inconvenient questions with the responding officers. Planting weapons on the perps is also a bad idea.
Always better to play by the rules and avoiding situations where one might feel compelled to lie to the cops. You will be found out, and what would have been a justified shooting will land you in jail (or broke from lawyer fees).
YMMV, check the laws in your state to stay on the safe side.

you are right on the shotguns, i never even considered guns with over 18 1/2" barrels, (never owned one)...re pistols, the vast majority of pistols would not fire 7 shots, i did realize there were individual model exceptions but didn't want to bog my post down with details - most folks will have 6-shot revolvers.
