I think maybe a better way to put it is many evangelicals and practicing Catholics see life, any life, no matter how conceived, a blessing from God.
In addition, someone suggested a morning after pill. Again, especially in the Catholic faith, people believe life begins at conception. So a morning after pill is out of the question for them too.
Of course I know many evangelicals who are ardent pro-life, yet they themselves use oral contraceptives which cause a fertilized egg to pass the uterus and become part of the monthly menstrual flow. They reason it does this is the oral contraceptive causes the uterus to be hostile to implantation. But it is a fertilized egg, with cell division and DNA already underway. So of those pro-life folks using those types of oral contraceptives are possibly some of the folks who were so strident in calling you out for wanting to allow, like the President has suggested, abortion for cases of rape, incest or where the life of the mother was in danger.
The morning after pill IS NOT an abortion pill, it works by preventing the release of an egg. So unless your defintion of abortion is preventing the egg and sperm from meeting the morning after pill IS NOT ABORTION.
You know "many" evangelicals who like to blab to you about their sex lives?
Enough, apparently, for you to make sweeping generalizations about those "strident pro-life folks."
