Amen to that. Watched it the first time late at night, alone. Thought I was having some kind of horrible nightmare.

For Spielberg, it's all been downhill, albeit slowly, from there. That was truly an everyman kind of movie.

Anyway, Weaver was a good actor and will be missed. Prayers for his family.

Actually, they come in 148's. It's just that nobody has recognized the pattern yet.

That was truly an everyman kind of movie.

The Dennis Weaver character in Duel was named Mann.

Supposidly Dennis Weaver and Mick Jagger were visiting the Playboy Mansion at the same time. Hugh Hefner told the Rolling Stone to look around on his own and took the actor on a private tour. The magazine publiser took him into a dark room, confesed his deepest sexual fantasy was cowboys, and sudden leapt on Mr. Weaver.

Mick Jagger strolls by and says, "Hey, Hugh, get offa McCloud."

We roared at that in high school.

Well, there's number three.

My thought, too.

I saw Dennis Weaver a couple of years ago in a Cracker Barrel restaurant, in the middle of nowhere, Arizona. Just a normal sorta guy, very gracious when some folks went up and asked for his autograph.

I remember him in Duel -- I don't know how it's aged, but I loved it when I was a kid.

Chester! I could not remember his character's name. All I could come up with was Festus, and I knew that was the character AFTER him.

What a great movie that was. I have a DVD copy myself. Sorry to see him pass.

Sadly, Mick Jagger will no longer be singing about him.

Dennis Weaver also acted as a host on the 'Encore Westerns Channel' for the past several years.

He seemed a very down-to-earth individual, his political leanings notwithstanding. He will be missed. I believe that leaves Jim Arness as the only living 'original' cast member of Gunsmoke.
