Sen. John McCain said Sunday that the reaction to a Dubai-based company's proposed takeover of several U.S. shipping terminals has reached the point of "near-hysteria," singling out Sen. Hillary Clinton for criticism.
"The near-hysteria about this is not warranted, particularly in light of the other major crisis that we're facing throughout the world," McCain told ABC's "This Week."
The Arizona Republican criticized Mrs. Clinton for urging that all foreign opereation of U.S. ports be banned, warning that if she gets her way, "We've got a lot of disinvestment to do."

What if you had to choose between these two clowns for Pres?
No brainer: McCain.
I think you are right. It looks like he may be trying to get her into a debate over the ports issue. If so, I think she will lose.
Could be. I see where Sen. Frist is already backpedaling like a sand crab.
Hope it doesn't come down to the two of them against each other. But I do think McCain would beat her.
(and I don't have a dog)
McCain first talked about the ports "near hysteria."
Stephanopoulos then played a clip of Hillary's comments and asked McCain what he thought of Hillary's proposed foreign ownership ban.
McCain responded with his "disinvestment" comment, then asked about whether even the British would be banned under such a plan.
There is no difference between McCain or Hillary, they both are crooked politicians.
Well, the logic is that if we were to listen to her we shouldn't be docking hundreds of ships there each year, or have airbases there as not just McCain but others whom I do respect (Tommy Franks, anyone?) have pointed out...and maybe some FReepers who have been calling Bush a traitor and worse will look at who they've been siding with.
LOL I hope you're right because she is scary enough to run off the dog you don't have. :)
Ah, thank you, Carl.
I do not watch Steponallofus's silly little show.
Most of the time I would rather put a gun to my head, lol! But that doesn't mean he's not right this time.
See post #16.
Barry Goldwater won reelection how many times in AZ?
As a national vote getter Goldwater was not a pimple on Lyndon Baines Johnson's rump.
Lyndon could have gotten elected assistant butt wipe at a diarrhea convention.
Since you mention Sen. Joe, Brother Biden gets my "fool of the week" award for the Sunday shows. Yes his initial comments were conciliatory, but then he came back with (close as my notes allow) it was "ridiculous to pretend dealing with an English company is the same as dealing with a company from the Middle East. We do not sell the same planes to Saudi Arabia that we sell to England, or France, or other NATO countries."
The British air industry is probably surprised we sell them very much at all, and the French must be positively shocked to discover they are not only buying American warplanes, but have rejoined NATO. And by the way Joe, we have been selling F-16s to Dubai for several years.
To my knowledge there isn't. But Halliburton could get into the business. Apparently they don't want to. It has a lot of experience handling cargo and shipping.
I think the Saudi Company handles 12 USA ports and it was my understanding that a British company handled the rest. The British Company is being purchased by the UAE Company.
Either way, we'd be screwed. It's just a matter of degree.
