Explosives packed into the wash area of a Shi'ite Muslim mosque in the southern city of Basra blew up on Sunday, causing minor injuries, police and witnesses said.

Police said they suspected three men wounded in the attack were planting the bomb when it exploded prematurely.

The blast at the Imam Ali mosque caused initial panic at a time of raging sectarian violence in Iraq, which has raised fears of a slide into civil war.

three men wounded in the attack

Hopefully, the wounds are minor enough to allow for interrogation to find the source of the explosives, persons behind the scenes (Iranian, sunni, etc)

I still say Reuters can find any negative story in minutes, but takes months to find and print positive stories.

I think this is a positive story.

I like any story where a bomber blow himself up. Its seems to be happening more often , Maybe theyre getting sloppy.

Heres a good opportunity to find out who ois planting these bombs in mosques. and yes, I think they will talk.

"The Iran-Iraq war continues...."

It's refreshing to see keen perception. Iran in one sense is in the driver's seat and the most lucrative game in town is oil, especially when one has insider trader knowledge (bombing the world's largest oil refining plant is bullish - for Iran).

I believe Iran was behind the Golden Dome and would like nothing better for civil war in Iraq and major problems for Saudi Arabia. The brutal Tehran régime mistakenly believes if America is preoccupied with Iraq and worried about oil prices soar Iranian nuclear weapons facilities are "safe".

Our best option is cut of the head of this jihadist snake (Iran) and do expeditiously, like in a month of so.

The Middle East factions in every country have been fighting each other for centuries. It is for this reason that democracy and lasting peace can never come to the region.

Democracy demands the ability to accept tolerance and self-government. History has shown that Middle Eastern countries are incapable of self-government and are very nearly ungovernable except by a theocratic strongman.

We have done all we can for Iraq. It's time to move on to other terrorists trouble spots.

I would agree in that the bombers blew themselves up, but my take is that Reuters sees any violence as negative.

I hope the interrogate the livin' cr@p out of them so that they can nail down who's behind this.

At least this one's not as bad as what happened in Samarra. Basra's been kind of freaked out lately anyway.

And the Iraqis for the most part have figured out that some outside group is doing this, trying to incite a civil war. They're coming together now and realizing they are Iraqis first, and Sunnis, Shiites, Kurds, etc. second.

This whole thing may turn out to have very good results down the road. It appears to be uniting them.

You know, in some of the slide shows on various news sites, the protesting muslim hordes are nearly all men, some with heavy-duty guns, and there are a few child-boys with guns longer than the boys are tall. This may seem idiotic, but these little muslim kids would do better if there was a Prof. Hill, the Music Man, intruding into their brutal and bellicose cultic environment - with big drums, tubas and trombones. What a sad prospect for life these muslim kids have - HATRED and being hated for it.
