The problem is, every missing link found exposes two new ones.

I know. Where is the missing link in my family between my parent's generation and mine?

This is a dreadful secret which must be hushed up, of course.

It's your better half, Vade!

before the prissy post police showed up.

Yes, they do seem to be MIA: it appears they only show up whenever something hits a little too close fo comfort, now don't they?

Ah! I'm sure that's not how I got here. Most of you folks, sure! Something error-prone and messy would suffice to explain the rabble.

This has become the kind of thread where ignoring trolls is a good idea.

Zeeba Neighba...since you have been using my sentence in your posts, perhaps those who dont know the back history of this should know...in response to an awfully nasty 'foul' post, written, by you-know-who, a discussion then followed...the 'foul' post was deemed to be so 'foul', that it was removed by the moderator...and as a result a discussion continued as to conduct shown during some of the more heated exchanges on FR...

I voiced my own personal way of trying to deal with even the most hot-headed debates...and my way, was as you posted, that I believed we should post as if face to face and treat each other with respect...that is usually how I try to conduct myself, and I find it works for me....of course, I am not try to be the 'prissy post police', or any such entity...I am just stating how I feel posting works best for me, and it might work best for others, because name-calling and being very obnoxious and very foul, can have the result of getting the offending poster banned...and no one wants that...

I did not intend to tell others how to behave when posting...everyone has their own way, their own temperment, and their own preferred method of discussion...all I was doing, was voicing my opinion as to how I try to act...

I do try to avoid namecalling,(even when I am called some mighty nasty things, which I have been), and when I get too hot and bothered I just try to leave the thread and go elsewhere(ebay and QVC are my friends)...I in no way am trying to tell others how to act...just giving my own personal views...

Namecalling always comes into play, and for the most part, its left to stand on its own...however, really 'foul', posts are removed by the moderators(which to my mind, is a mistake, let the foulness be seen as is, and who it comes from...but hey, this is Jim Robinsons site and he does as he sees fit)....

I am not trying to tell anyone else how to post...just explaining my own position...

Carry on...

And I appreciate that. When you do it, you are noble and good. When I do it, I am called names. It's just the way it is, and I accept it. Carry on.

You apparently gave somebody a permanent tic on that other thread. Well, it definitely for sure wasn't your fault. You shouldn't continue to be pinged every time the poster in question sees something he is able to construe as insulting. That would be thread-stalking.

That said, I suggest that the best treatment for trolls is called "virtual ignore."
