Bush could be caught on tape and witnessed by millions at halftime of the Rose Bowl shooting Billy Graham in the back and there would be a battalion of talk show hosts and sycophants justifying his action as good policy.

Now the good news. We're very close to fielding technology that will allow us to complete 100% inspection. The interesting aspect to that is we've been working closely with one of our allies in bringing this technology online. That partner is the UAE.

Really?? That's fascinating, I'm trying to imagine the sort of technology that would allow this.

For my efforts I'm mostly able to conjure up a mental image of Jack Bauer, LOL!

Ping!

Actually, the President could sell half the United States back to France and Spain, and at this point, I wouldn't believe a word the lamestream media and their Democrat toad-whippers reported about it.

Why in the world should I?

I'm sorry - "cornfusing"! I just meant to say I agree with you (and now your post 701) about all the sycophants, boot-lickers, and yes-men/women who will say or do anything to rise higher in the ranks. Too much of politics over principles going on in the government and on FR.

The states own the ports. Various companies lease space from the states and build various kinds of cargo handling operations.

No doubt the states had some boilerplate language in the original leases that gives them some leverage over the cargo handling companies.

They do, NJ an NY have clauses in their leases that allows them input into the sale process as it relates to continuing the relationship or not with the new owner. It appears that was violated and so they have a good case in getting their leases terminated. That's good news for this part of the country at least.

What's so good about it? The odds are enormous that you will end up with Chicoms or Saudis owning and running those facilities.

I simply do not see that as an improvement.

Nope, arrangements are already being made to let the Danish company Maersk take over. I doubt you'll be seeing the Saudis or Chicoms moving in anytime soon.

Unions have outlived their usefullness, trust me, I was once a Teamster (talk about worthless bunch of democrat funding pieces of crap)

I see.

Tax paying American unionized worker-bad.

Foreign Arab-Muslim control of U.S. ports-good.

If there is any good news it's likely many folks like you will see the inevitable results of selling out the American middle class to foreign countries.

Here's wishing that a bankrupted pension fund,no retirement medical benefits, and an outsourced position is in your near future.

You're just full of emotional arguments. Let me ask you a serious question, do the positions you take on things make you feel better about yourself?

How many millions of workers are out there that are not unionized? I'm willing to bet more workers are not unionized than are. Why is this? Ever wonder why unionized industries are dying while others are not? Ever wonder why the European economies are disasters....I'll give you the answer to that one.....unions. Unions are fighting for less work and more pay and benefits...outdated ideas. I will not worry about a pension or medicare or social security. I am preparing like a good Conservative for my own future instead of depending on others to do it. I am responsible for myself, no one else is. To depend on government for handouts is socialistic. It is what will destroy this country. Take a look at social security, it is dying and will be dead within two decades, soon if something is not done. You probably think there is a social security trust fund flush with cash being passed out....sorry to tell you, what is paid in now is going out the next day. When the number of retirees outgrows the number of payers, what will the seniors do then? I know what I'll be doing...living off of what I have invested and saved.

" Tax paying American unionized worker-bad.

Foreign Arab-Muslim control of U.S. ports-good."

You attempt at a racist argument is lame and rather shallow. Again, a knee jerk reaction to an emotional issue. Logic will hopefully prevail over emotionalism. Why are you not screeching about the Chinese running US ports? Why not about when the British were running the ports in question? Was not the infamous shoe bomber a British citizen?

"Here's wishing that a bankrupted pension fund,no retirement medical benefits, and an outsourced position is in your near future."

Again, an emotional response and a bad one at that. I've told you above that I am prepared for the future, no matter what happens. It's called personal responsibility. You might want to take some of that for yourself and take the time to think about this logically, not emotionally.

I don't know if any Freepers have read today's NewsMax.com, "Iran Readies Plan to Close Strait of Hormuz", by Kenneth R. Timmerman, but it certainly bears perusal. What if part of "the deal" is Arabia granting American possession of strategic locations there in view of the above? Would someone please post the thread? Thank you.

>>>Its like FDR backing the running of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese.

Au contraire... it's like FDR backing the running of all western ports by the Japanese. And throw in the Gulf Coast too.

I'd like to know how many visas are issued to these foreign "managers" of the ports. Does anyone know?

You might want to take some of that for yourself and take the time to think about this logically, not emotionally.

What is the logical argument that supports a foreign nation controlling our ports?

Do you understand a concept called sovereignty?

Are you making all that money you are stashing away using illegal immigrant labor that is subsidized by the American taxpayer?

Anyone who screamed and yelled about this deal was a moron, a drama queen or both. DP World ALREADY operates terminals in this country.

The Kool Aid wing of the conservative movement needs to take a trip to Dubai or inform themselves of how terminals are operated before making knee jerk reactions that make us all look like left-side-of-the-bell-curve Squidbillies.

Why, pray tell, has the Port Authority never sued DP World before over American Stevedoring. This smells like pure politics to me.

Are you capable of an original thought?

That sounds just like a drug induced statement coming from Limbaugh as that " faux conservative" explains why giving control of U.S. ports to a foreign government is a good thing.

I would suggest you reconsider your own postion, selling out the United States of America for a few Arab bucks is based on one of the oldest emotions- greed.

Based on your responses, I am betting you are either profitting from the the selling out of America or you are a government employee.

Let me make a guess.
In your Limbaugh logic prevailing world, logic prevented you from serving your nation in uniform.

What is the logical argument that supports a foreign nation controlling our ports?""

You really need to educate yourself about what is going on. No foreign nation would be "controlling" our ports. Good Lord, you've swallowed Schumer/Clinton's BS hook, line, and sinker. They operate terminals, just like the Chinese, the companies from Singapore, and the British company P&O did at the ports in question. The local Port Authority and the US Coast Guard "control" the ports.

Are you making all that money you are stashing away using illegal immigrant labor that is subsidized by the American taxpayer?""

Evidentally you don't read my posts very often. I am against illegal immigrants. Besides, that argument has nothing to do with the ports, so stop trying to throw off the argument with a nice lovely little straw man. Or are you carrying on your racism?
