And can you imagine the negative implications if every one of these transactions was examined in a highly charged political environment?

the Committee on Foreign Investments in the United States (CFIUS) holds their meetings in secret That is required by law. Company's MUST disclose all communications which would otherwise be trade or competitive secrets, so the only way they can conduct these kind of hearings is to hold them secrets. Otherwise, proprietary competitive information would be disclosed.

Peach, I am in awe of your ability to type so fast. You are on both threads doing fast transcribing.
My hat is off to you for your excellent posts.

Another freeper has pointed out to me that the Armed Services hearing being held today to discuss the port deal includes only ONE Republican. Warner.

And can you imagine the negative implications if every one of these transactions was examined in a highly charged political environment?Exactly. As I understand it, that is exactly why this process was voluntarily ceded by Congress itself. They knew they would not be able to resist politicizing these transactions and getting foreign investment in the US was not going to be easy.

"It would have been a good thing if the WH had made sure that Republican Congressmen understood the process" LOL! Reminds me of the old saying, you can lead a horse to water.....
I've seen all different angles of your point. You are the only one I've seen calling for "talking points."
To: old_sage_says
You're more than welcome, Old Sage.

Thank you very much! That would get the MSM going. I forwarded that to even some of my lib colleagues here and got a good laugh!

So you're taking issue with the words talking points? LOL
That's a little overly sensitive to the larger point that we've all been making that the WH should have met with legislators to make sure they knew how this deal worked and why it's a good thing. Let's see - I can type a sentence or two to describe the point or I can type 2 words (talking points) to get the point across.
Since I'm trying to transcribe what is being said on two different threads, I think you're being a little overly critical. Which doesn't surprise me at all.

Agreed, they have become way too lazy. I had to laugh when a WH reporter asked McClellan to have someone come over to their press room and brief them!
The MSM have become advocates rather than reporters of fact.

If you question anything the President does, any facts or proof immediately become, "from a leftist publication" including NRO,Weekly Standard,The American Spectator and any other conservative publication you can think of. Anyone who has ever visited the site knows it's a conservative think tank trying to break the chains of PC ism on college campuses. I don't use the phrase, "Bush Bot" because it's demeaning and doesn't add to dialog, but sometimes I'm tempted. ">)!

re: Hillary
That's funny, they still haven't spent the funds they received to beef up security here in NY.

Ask Tiki about J J Redick and his recent accomplishments. They both went to the same high school. Cave Spring High School in Roanoke County VA.

Like you, I was pretty shocked to see FrontPage magazine referred to as a leftist magazine because my experience reading them is that they are staunchly conservative.
