Tony Snow is back and better than ever!  Tony's guests and topics on today's Tony Snow Show include:

More Information Needed
Many who object to the port deal are concerned that they were not in the decision-making loop. Should more people be included in decisions of this nature? Maryland Governor Bob Ehrlich (R) weighs in.

The Facts Win
After sifting through mountains of paper and doing acres of research, the port story doesn't seem like a big issue. But Tony will address any concerns.

The Zen of Bode
Why does Bode Miller insist he doesn't care about winning medals at the Olympics? What is he even doing at the Olympics? Fox News Contributor Tiki Barber thinks he knows the answer.

Thanks LL.

Tony mentioned Frist and others may be trying to distance themselves from the Prez because of this low poll ratings.
This is totally assinine IMO. First, most people know that most of the polls aren't worth the bandwith or paper they're printed on - the questions are slanted, poll adults rather than likely voters, poll more Dims than Pubbies, etc.
Second, if the idiot Pubbie congresscritters would get their act together and learn the FACTS about issues and support the Pres instead of the Dims on some issues, get some spine and stand up against the Dims and w the Prez, I suspect his and their poll #s would be much higher </rant off

BTW - the President is campaigning for DeWine in OH today.

"Part of the problem was that Sean didn't throw him a line he could get a hook into."

Bingo. That's exactly what I was thinking.

Well Levin is not as bad as Teddy.

Karl, so far, is better than he was yesterday. I think someone made a decision to release more information about what the UAE is doing FOR us which helps. Until yesterday, the best argument was this agreement didn't HURT our security, but the flaw (as Mark Levin found) was that it was hard to find a reason to take the perceived risk. I think Tommy Franks and now Karl Rove are knocking that one out of the park.

Mark blew it with me, when he suggested that we demonize certain countries.

Hillary: We haven't funded ports adequately or taken it seriously. A particular concern to me as a Senator from NY.

We know from press reports that the process used to review the transaction appears to be cursory at best. A number of provisions were not required of the company and the mandatory requirement for an additional 45 day review with the entity involved was ignored.

The track record of this administration on Homeland Security and its inadequate funding and bureaucratic mismanagement in Katrina and other instances, does not create an atmosphere of confidence.

According to the AP this transaction was approved without the ordinary provisions. The administration does not require the company to keep records, to designate an American citizen to work with the admin.

This is a failure of judgment. We haven't deployed the technology we need to. We don't have the radiation detectors we need.

Shall we pre-empt David Gregory and ask Karl how much he stands to make on this deal and isn't UAE secretly owned by Halliburton?

And I want to know why David Gregory waited so long to tell us about this.

What upsets me is that Congress crafted the legislation which governs foreign countries from purchasing American corporations and then most of them forget the language pertaining to secrecy in that legislation. Convenient memories, I'd say

That's because they rely to much on their staff on what is in bills/laws and never read the laws themselves

Well I'm off to a birthday party with a bunch of screaming 5 yr old ... groan

Don't you find it amazing that even when one of our side goes "off the reservation", this President has been loyal to a fault (sometimes literally) to them when they have not been to him? W knocked himself out for Specter who has been lukewarm. Trying to type while listening to Karl in one ear and "she who should not be named" in the other is a challenge.

The administration does not require the company to keep recor

"on US soil where they can be subpoenad". I wanted to add the rest of what she said. This is now being used solely for political purposes.

Hillary: We've heard from numerous administration spokespeople that those of us raising concerns are out of place. For many of us, there is a significant difference between a private company running ports and a foreign entity running the ports.

If we are impacting national security, the full 45 days of investigation is mandatory if it affects natinoal security.

Yet, a decision was made not to conduct that 45 days of investigations.

Sec. Chertoff has claimed we have a disciplined process. On the face of it, they don't.

There are numerous problems with this review process that we need answers to but in the larger context, port security, particularly given the problems we've had with Homeland Security, apparently the WH is about to issue their report about Katrina, which based on the press reports will make you cry. It's 4.5 years after 9/11 and we've been saying that tehre are problems and it's troubling.

Karl Rove: "I'm going to leave it to others to determine who's at fault and...."
Karl's Thought: And when I find their $ss, I'm hiring someone else because we really screwed the pooch.
OK, $1 for the CUSS JAR.

Absolutely. The Pubbies could learn a thing or 2 about loyalty from the Pres and also remember Ronald Regan's 11th commandment.
