(AP) A 62-year-old great-grandmother has become one of the oldest women in the world to successfully give birth.
The healthy six-pound, nine-ounce baby boy is the 12th child born to Janise Wulf of Redding, California. Wulf also has 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Her oldest child is 40.
Family members said Friday's delivery went smoothly, despite health concerns involving Wulf, who has diabetes and has been blind since birth.
Baby Adam is the second child born to Wulf and third husband, Scott. Their other son is three-and-a-half. Scott Wulf, who is 48 years old, said he'd always wanted children. He said their two sons, born through in-vitro fertilization, are beyond what he'd hoped was possible.
Wulf isn't the oldest woman to give birth. That record went to a Romanian woman who gave birth last year at the age of 66.
Finally!
To what?
Sex... yuck.
It was in-vitro fertilization!
Turkey baster.
Congratulations to Mom and the kid - if she's old enough to be a grandmother, she's old enough to spoil this kid rotten.
Poor kid. The childs mother will die when he is in his teens or early twenties.
With all the new technology regarding fertility, a 65-year-old woman was
able to give birth to a baby recently. When she was discharged from the
hospital and went home, the relatives came to visit.
"We came to see the new baby?" one said.
"Not yet," said the mother. "I'll make coffee and we can visit for awhile first."
Thirty minutes had passed, and another relative asked, "May we see the new baby now?"
"No, not yet," said the mother.
After another few minutes had elapsed, they asked again, "May we see the baby now?"
"Not yet," replied the mother.
Growing very impatient, they asked, "Well, when CAN we see the baby?"
"WHEN HE CRIES!" she told them.
"WHEN HE CRIES?" they demanded. "Why do we have to wait until he CRIES?"
"BECAUSE, I forgot where I put him..."
Good grief!! Talk about a hyperactive birth canal!!
Doing her part to save social security.
You have to respect any woman who labors like this.
My wife comes from a 11 kid family. When the parents became infirmed, it made me proud to be a part of the support network this man & woman had. It made for interesting family events as the children aged & had kids themselves.
Nobody- it was in vitro.
I come from a 11 kids family also.
This woman has had 12 children, three husbands and the latest husband is 48. Congrats to her.
Even if she passes on before the kid reaches adulthood, at least there are all the children and grandchildren who could step in and help as necessary.
Must run in the family if her child has three grandchildren at 40.
