"I do not want this DUTCH/UAE company to run the six ports in question, if there is a real security threat."

If you would simply step back a moment and remove your dubya blinders, you will clearly see a real and present danger of major proportions with muslims running our strategic ports. And no, it is not true this is a paper only involvement. And no, it matters zero nada zilch if it were only on paper, (which it is not) since what is means in the case IS operational HANDS ON functions at our strategic ports...including security.

Ask yourself, what profit seeking company would make a paper deal of 6.8 bill and not be hands on in it's day to day operations? I'd argue a soon to be bankrupt company.

DP world does port security

We have some folks here trying desperately to hoodwink us. I don't understand their motive less it be dubya can do no wrong, or worse, they actively support terrorists seeking the destruction of these United States.

I voted for and continue to support Pres. Bush in the war in Iraq. However, this port issue is bizzarre to say the least, and gives me great pause. There is no justification for allowing muslims(all potential terrorists moderate or not) to be involved in any measure regarding our strategic ports.

We must continue to resist by screaming bloody murder at our congress critters.

I agree with you. I do not want under any circumstances to give a Muslim country any economic control over our strategic physical assets that the US cannot live without. Also, knowing that entities such as Al Qaeda are willing to wait years to attack us, it wouldn't take much to put just a handful of Jihadists into important operational positions that could cause the US a world of hurt.

We have the FBI, the CIA, the DHS, the Department of the Treasury, and the State Department looking into all of this, and coming to the conclusion that there is no threat. Then the Whitehouse (along with members of both the House and Senate) overlooked all of the data, and came to the same conclusion.

Then some of us say that we should once again look into this deal and see if it really does what clintoon, schumer, and the anti-Bush brigade here says it will do. If we come to the conclusion that the deal is bad for National Security, we stop these two merged companies from running the daily operations at these 6 ports. We can do this before they can take over the contracts.

Some find it easier to let their inner buchananite out, by attacking lifelong Conservatives like myself. WE are not saying we want this merger to control operations, but that we need to have open investigations to see what the truth really is. What we have today are isolationists, buchananites, libertarians, and "hate-Bush" DU'ers screaming that ALL of the above have sold out America. Yea, I really am going to side with this loose group of radicals before I learn what the truth really is!
