Well....I think I predicted pretty well that the Dubai Port sale would be a hot topic..

Both Saxby Chambliss and Jane Harman feel that Congress SHOULD have been involved in this sale...and feel that NOW he needs to get with them for their permission.

However, I think it was Tony Snows show that I heard that Congress itself had decided that these issues were better NOT to be in their jurisdiction...and that the panel that did make this decision SHOULD make the decision..

BUT, I see that they have found yet another way to bash Bush, whether we like this deal or not (and I am not happy with it)...it is being USED.

Yes, you did predict it and you are usually right on target.

I wasn't real comfy about this port sale and I'm even less comfy with the fact that the SheBeast is taking the issue and running with it.

"Both Saxby Chambliss and Jane Harman feel that Congress SHOULD have been involved in this sale...and feel that NOW he needs to get with them for their permission".

A BRITISH company being sold to a DUTCH/UAE owned company has to get US Congressional approval? I can see the contracts (to run US port facilities) having to be looked into and changed, canceled, or modified, but I think International Law would preclude Congress from being involved in non-American owned Multinational entity sales.

I am watching Heartland w/ John Kasich (yuck)...and he has on Bill Kristol..

And Kristol is talking about a subject that COULD overshadow the Katrina and Cheney stories...even NSA..

and that is the Dubai/UAE acquistion of the British Company that handled the port operations at some American ports...

It seems that Kristol, and a lot of conservatives are angry not just about the approval of the sale, thus installing them as the owners with access to US ports...but also that this allows (because she stuck her finger in the political wind) Hillary to go to the "right" of President Bush on national security...which is HIS main strong suit.

The only person that I have heard speak un-histrionically (is that a word?) about this is Tony Snow...and he seems to find it much ado about not so much.

So...Sunday's "scandal du jour" may be this port story.

The dims seem to have adopted it as a chance to get out ahead of Bush and polish up their homeland security credentials a bit.
