Fox News Sunday (Chris Wallace)
- Memes:
- As usual it looks like Fox is reversing the main meme of the other shows: the usual suspects (Dems/MSM) are trying to blame the grown ups for a natural disaster
- The MSM are out of their tiny minds, particularly CNN for lashing out at Brit Hume and Fox for the Cheney interview
- They are giving Evan Bayh a platform for trying to run right of George Bush on IRAN
- They are giving Lindsey Graham a platform to auditioning as John McCain's VP candidate, therefore he will take the Democrat talking points on NSA and repeat them, ad nauseum
- Topics:
- Katrina blame game and the media flurry over Cheney accident
- Guests
- Sen. Lindsey Graham
- Sen. Evan Bayh
- Former Sen. Alan Simpson
- Fox News Sunday contact information - FNS@foxnews.com
NBC Meet The Press (Tim Russert)
- Memes:
- The killer meme this week for the dinosaur media is "Katrina was all Bush's fault" and he ruined a perfectly good government bureaucracy (DHS/FEMA) by appointing bad people (meaning Republicans)
- There is a secondary meme dealing with the VPs hunting accident
- Dick Cheney is too
dangerous evil a bad man lying hiding up to something just lucky the guy didn't die - The White House is being mean to the press
- Topics:
- The Bush administration's failures in planning for -- and dealing with -- the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina
- Roundtable topic: Washington is still buzzing about Vice President Cheney's accidental shooting of his hunting partner. Did he handle the situation properly? Is the intense media coverage warranted?
- Guests
- Secretary of Homeland Security Michael Chertoff
- Former Cheney counselor Mary Matalin (roundtable)
- New York Times columnist Maureen Dowd (roundtable)
- NBC News Chief White House Correspondent David Gregory (roundtable)
- The Wall Street Journal's Editorial Page Editor Paul Gigot (roundtable)
- What would you like to ask this week's guests? (web page for submitting questions for this weeks show)
- Meet the Press mailbox (web page for comments)
CBS Face The Nation (Bob Schieffer)
- Memes:
- Since there are no topics posted I'm guessing, based on the guests:
- the GOP agenda and Bill Frist distancing himself from GWB (in preparation for running for President)
- Barbara Boxer is the attack dog for several "out there" angry Democrat memes right now:
- Bush wants to rape the environment (oil drilling)
- Bush has caused all of the trouble in the Middle East (Iraq) while ignoring the real trouble in the Middle East (Iran)
- Repeating the second main meme of the Dems this week, Bush has ruined a perfectly good government bureaucracy (DHS/FEMA) by appointing bad people (meaning Republicans)
- Bush should be impeached
- Topics:
- Guests
- Sen. Bill Frist - Majority Leader - Republican - Tennessee
- Sen. Barbara Boxer - Foreign Relations Committee - Democrat - California
- Elizabeth Bumiller - The New York Times
- Face The Nation contact information - ftn@cbsnews.com
ABC This Week (George Stephanopoulos)
- Memes:
- Strike 3 for dinosaur media on marching off the cliff in lock step: Bush ruined a perfectly good government bureaucracy (DHS/FEMA), at least when the Democrats, primarily Joe Lieberman, proposed it, by appointing bad people (meaning Republicans)
- their use of Tom Davis, a Republican, to carry the water on this is at least novel
- there is also a subtle attempt to rehabilitate Joe Lieberman by giving him a platform to attack the Bush administration over Katrina to help him overcome his handicap of being in favor of the war in Iraq
- Dick Cheney is literally dangerous to you and me (Katrina vanden Heuvel and Cokie Roberts will double team on this one)
- The Bush White House is a war with the poor downtrodden media (Katrina vanden Heuvel has been giving speeches to this effect)
- The Bush White House is stupid and doesn't know the Constitution forbids his NSA program (George Will has been on this rant)
- Topics:
- This week's scathing congressional report about the governments handling of Hurricane Katrina
- Guests
- Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff
- Chairman of the House Select Committee on Katrina, Tom Davis, R-VA
- Sen. Joe Lieberman, D-Conn.
- NBA star Shaquille O'Neal (discusses his sideline -- protecting children on the Internet - Vision segment)
- Katrina vanden Heuvel (roundtable)
- Cokie Roberts (roundtable)
- George Will. (roundtable)
- ABC This Week comment web page
CNN Late Edition (Wolf Blitzer)
- Memes:
- Four separate memes this week
- Reinforcing the primary MSM/Dem meme of "Katrina was all Bush's fault," particularly appointing bad people to DHS and FEMA
- The NSA program is too illegal (giving Jane Harman a do-over for messing up on MTP last week)
- The Europeans are the smart ones, appeasing the Islamists (this is a guess, no specific support)
- Even retired Generals say that Bush messed up in Iraq
- Topics:
- Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff will talk about the government's response to Hurricane Katrina, and preparedness for future emergencies.
- Guests
- Michael Chertoff: Homeland Security Secretary
- Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Georgia; Intelligence Committee
- Rep. Jane Harman, D-California; Intelligence Committee
- David Manning: British Ambassador to the U.S.
- Wolfgang Ischinger: German Ambassador to the U.S.
- Jean-David Levitte: French Ambassador to the U.S.
- Retired Maj. Gen. Paul Eaton: U.S. Army; Former Cmdr., Iraqi Troop Training
- CNN Late Edition (web page for comments)
This is NOT intended to be the live Sunday Morning Talk Show thread. I trust AB will do that as usual. This is strictly a preview of who will be on the main shows. The idea is to give folks a chance to muster their resources for that thread. I would particularly ask that anyone with specific knowledge or resources about the topics / guests announced for these shows post them here so that the rest of us can go into the shows with a heads up on what to look for. For example, Will anyone bring up Andrew McCarthy's complete destruction of George Will's column about the legality of the NSA program?

Email to MTP
Mr Gregory;
Most Americans felt your behavior at the White House this week was childish, emotionally hysteric and out of control. Don't you think you owe the American People an apology for the many mistakes you made this week in losing control like that? Don't you think this weeks loss of professional control makes it impossible for the American People to ever take you seriously as a "Journalist" in the future? Mr Gregory, do you realize what enormous damage your childish behavior has done to your profession and the Journalistic Credibility of NBC news?

I am surprised that the Dubai port deal would not be the main theme this week. Given how hard Chuck Schumer and the Democrat Senate Election committee has been flogging this story bet you dollars it will be the main theme next week. This week it is going to be all Katerina all the time. Chertoff is going to be eaten alive. He is not really any good at this. Going to be a LOOOOOOOnngggg Sunday.

I might have to try and stay away. The media have really gotten to me this week. Of course, not a Peep from the MSM about Al Gore's disgusting comments in Saudi Arabia.

I agree about the Dubai port issue (see a couple of articles linked on my post above) - -the DNC may be trying to get their talking points together on it, though Chuckie was on Savage's show - of all places yesterday (just caught part of it on the way home yesterday)- - they both must be desparate ;-)
Also agree about Chertoff. I think he's a bright man, but not exactly an inspiring or expiring speaker, which is helpful for these talk shows. I hope he pushes back when he gets slammed, but I have a feeling he won't, and, as you said, will be eaten alive. I expect Timmy to do his 'in your face' type of interrogation he saves just for Pubbies and Katrina van de evil will be her witchy, lying, communist self.

Bill Gallagher, a Peabody Award winner, is a former Niagara Falls city councilman who now covers Detroit for Fox2 News. This is the writer of "The Republican Attack Strategy", with is just chock full of lies. He calls supporters of the Administration "Busheviks." Note that he is working as a reporter, for Fox no less. No bias in the media!!!!

Yeah - I'm not pleased about that either. The president can't do it alone and when our Republican Congressmen don't push issues like these, it leaves him, and the entire party, vulnerable to the lies of the leftists.

Can you imagine what the Sat Nite live people are going to do with this one? My personal fav would be the VP at a press Conf shooting reporters rather then answering their questions.

Well what upsets me is WHERE are the New Media? They are all flogging the Cheney story. Al Gore? Saddam Tapes? Next week it will be all Dubai all the time! Our side needs to start MAKING news not just responding to what the Junk Journalist want to talk about. Frustrating!

Agreed. Also, did you hear the former UN inspector on Sean Hannity's show the other day who translated the Saddam tapes for Congress and ABC? He said that ABC mis-reported (deliberately, I'm sure) that Saddam said he warned the US would be attacked by WMD and it wouldn't be Iraq.
What he actually said was we'd be attacked with WMD and he'd use proxies so it couldn't be traced to Iraq.

Had not heard that. Excellent of Sean. Shows not ALL of our side is lying down. Laura Ingraham did some excellent work on the Saddam tapes too but I heard next to nothing. Maybe that is my fault for not looking for it hard enough. Thank you.
