Perhaps we could open a B&B for OSama when he's in town too.

I hate to agree with Schummer, but there is no way ANY other country should run any port in this country...

Review? It shouldn't be done, period.

(Also sad when Chuck Schumer is the voice of semi-reason.)

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y. "The United Arab Emirates has had people involved in terrorism. In fact, some of its financial institutions laundered the money for the (Sept, 11) terrorists. And to just blithely go ahead and treat this as another economic transaction is all wrong."

G-d help us when we need Chuck the Schmuck to protect us from the stupidity of this Administration. (unless the plan is to Nationalize the ports in June!)

If the UAE won the contract fair and square, I wonder what the globalist and free trade crowd that dont wish muslims who wish to kill us running our ports would use as a reason? This issue is precisely the danger of an ideology run amuk. This is now where pc runs the asylum. Id ask God to help us, but once again, I must point out God doesnt like idiots.

My husband had an interesting conversation this week with a GOP fundraiser.

When my spouse listed all the ways he was disappointed in Bush and the Administration and the continued corporatist global decimation of our nation, the fundraiser dropped a little bomb. He said that we had to outsource and continue to allow "free trade" (yes the F word!) so that our "allies" would have jobs for their people and their economies would grow.

Doesn't that just make you want to dip into your accounts and shovel money into the GOP efforts?

My darling husband didn't think so.....

Is the port deal another payback to one of our "allies" in the ME?

This insanity...there is no other word for it...

How can the WOT be taken seriously if our borders are wide open and our ports are run by countries with past relations to terrorism?

Honestly, Homeland Security must trump free trade....this is absurd and dangerous....

The sad thing (and the truth) is that NOT ONE AMERICAN COMPANY BID ON THIS CONTRACT! I say let the Navy run them!

Analogy blondette news-reader made on Fox and Friends this morning: Turning ports over to an UAE company is about like turning airport security over to them.

Not one American Company bid on this contract. Tell me... how is President Bush supposed to "fix" that?

Don't worry about it -- this UAE-based company isn't going to "running" these ports anytime soon.

Variations of this story have been posted and thoroughly debunked at least a dozen times this week. The British company that the UAE-based firm is buying doesn't run these ports in the first place, so this story is really just a lot of crap.

We don't need a "review;" we need AMERICANS to run the 6 US Ports.
Period.

Don't give Schumer too much credit.

He was among the Dems 2 years ago who had a hissy fit when the Bush administration refused to outsource Iraq contracts to countries who hadn't contributed to the war effort. France was the main one clamoring for a cut of the work.

Now think about that. France, with its huge unsettled muslim population, operating in Iraq.

Schumer was livid that Bush was "thumbing our nose" at allies. It was part of their "Bush has made us unpopular" campaign.

Now he comes out and argues just the opposite. (And UAE is ten times the ally France has been).

They already do.

Now everyone should take it easy and get back to their normally-scheduled Friday activities. LOL.

If the Bush Admin pushes this through, they will replace the Carter Admin as the most bumbling, incompetent administration in the last 100 years.

Close maybe, but no see-gar. Carter gave away the Panama Canal. We built it, we bought it, and we need it, and he gave that sucker away. Hands down winner.

There are times when you wonder about George Bush ... and this is one of them. It all boils down to political correctness. He sometimes seems more worried about offending Muslims than protecting the country.

It's amazing. Islam is perhaps the most backward religion in the world, yet Muslims are given whatever they want by the West.

Are you stating that the UAE company will not have any hand in securing these ports or have any knowledge of how security will be implemented? If yes, please supply some links....it would be an interesting read....
