Russian and Ukrainian press on Meller's speech
16.02.2006 Moscow (PAP) - In a commentary concerning Polish Foreign Minister Stefan Meller's speech on tasks of the Polish foreign policy presented Wednesday the Russian daily Vremia Novostey described the part on Polish-Russian relations as "the most emotional one and having a rich content".
The daily stressed that recently Mocow and Warsaw have visibly changed the way they are speaking about each other. The tension which began when Poland supported Ukraine's Orange Revolution has started to ease, the daily said.
The daily quoted Meller's words who said that "it is in Poland's interest to have - east of our borders - a modern Russian state, one that does not seek inspiration in the imperial heritage but builds its identity as a democratic state, credible and cooperative, and especially a good neighbour," and stressed the statement met with Sejm's applause.
The Kiev daily Delo stressed Poland's willingness to support further EU enlargement, to include Ukraine.
Brussels should finally work out a policy of relations with eastern countries. Until now EU relations with these countries have been based on the so-called "neighbourhood policy" authored by Poland. But this policy does not define clear prospects of their membership, the daily said.
I can see, that Admin pushes almost everything that touches Russo-Ukrainian-Polish relations from News/Activism to Bloggers/Personal :-)
whats up with that
