Dean blames party's "skullduggery" for withdrawal of popular Ohio Senate candidate
AP ^ | Febuary 15 2006

Democratic party chair Howard Dean says he's not happy that Iraqi war veteran Paul Hackett is dropping out of the race for U-S Senate in Ohio.

Dean told a student audience in Miami that "some skulduggery in Washington" improperly led to Hackett's decision to end his bid. And he said Democrats will have a tough time winning if similar things happen to others.

Hackett was vying with Ohio congressman Sherrod Brown for the Democratic nomination. He said that Hackett was a "great candidate," and that a primary in Ohio wouldn't have hurt the party. Hackett says he's ending his eleven-month political career.

Well then Dean had better rein in Harry Reid and the fatso swimmer. According to an article posted here yesterday, they told this guy to get out of the race.

LOL! Dean doesn't control the his sorry party...lol.

Howard Dean.....the gift that just keeps on giving.

My paranoia is that the DNC will play up Deans zany antics to show how "centrist" Hillary has become.

It's good to see the Dems' in-fighting, but its outcome in Ohio doesn't mean anything for the GOP. Sherrod Brown is a guaranteed loser in the upcoming Governor's race.

"Sherrod Brown is a guaranteed loser in the upcoming Governor's race."

I thought this was for the U.S. senate.

Er. Isn't Crazy Dr. Dean the head of the DNC. If anyone knows what happened its gotta be him. Unless Clinton pulled a Toricelli on Hackett or something along those lines.

harry Reid was just on MY tv accusing the Repubs of being the "most secretive" party ever in history. This because VP Cheney chose to take his friend to the hospital instead of calling a press conference.

Now Dean accuses his party of "skulduggery"?? Amazingly, Harry "Godfather of Lobbyists" Reid was one of those who "convinced" this "poor fella" to drop out of the race. Hummm, Harry denies it of course, so I guess he's "secretive", too!!!!! It's a contest, I guess.

Small wonder Dean's upset. I had heard that Hackett was so left-wing fringe at some points as to make Dean look sane.

"Culture of skulduggery?!?" It means: "Crafty deception or trickery or an instance of it."

I don't know how it relates to a RAT resigning from a race. I guess Washington tricked him into withdrawing.

Dean is a flippin' idiot! He couldn't run a hot dog stand with chilled water in Nigeria in a draught.

You're right, it's the senate race. And as much as I loathe DeWine, Brown will not win against him.

Political in fighting wins as Paul Hackett couldn't hack it.

The big story here seems to be the big Democrat Party Leader [?] Dean speaking to the kids. (student audience in Miami)

Perhaps he is more comfortable pulling the "sheep over their wool"?

Yeah, DeWine is not my favorite republican (very far from it) but he did a good job on the Alito thing and I believe he is ten times better than Brown.

I hope Blackwell wins the governor's mansion, that would really rile the liberal loonies!

"has become."

That right there is enough to kill her run.

I think voters are sick of the Carville/Matalin/Morris-driven manipulative campaigning.

The ideological carpetbagging by the carpet-...err ...
The ideological carpetbagging is on the way out.

He wants to revive the "Deanie baby" days, big audiences of (unable to vote) kids. There is a loud scream just itching to get out of Howie's head.
